Do you think that if you moved to a country and didn’t know say English. Do you think you should learn it? or just find friends who speak the same language as you and your family? I know if I ever wanted to live in China or Russia I would have to learn their language so why can’t people learn Englsih? I am pretty sure most countries do teach English in school so there is no reason why these people don’t know english. I have neighbours who have told me “English not good”. So then my question is well why don’t you practise so you get better? But the thing with Cnada there are lots of programs that will help those who only speak their native language no matter what it is.
I have often thought about learning another language so I can talk to my neighbours but then I wouldn’t have anyone i could practice with. And the neighbours would probally not want to talk to me so I just never tried. But I did learn hebrew and I still know a few things but it’s slowly disappearing because I don’t use it. And I also know some American Sign Language so i can get what I want to say. I do finger spelling. I do know for a fact that the people who live in japan can speak english but would rather the tourist would speak english because they don’t want to wait for the right words to be said and it’s easier for they to just speak english.
Here is a question for you? Do you think it should be manditory for a person who comes from a country that doesn’t teach english that once the person get say to here they should need to learn the language? Or is that being racists? I know if I were in their country I would be forced to learn their language so why not them? Maybe if these people knew basic English then at least they can say something? I have noticed that these foreigners are not too bright because they are missing out on all kinds of people and places becasue they are either too lazy or too stupid to learn the language. Instead of saying “English not good” why not just try and see what happenes? I know I would understand the jist of what is being said and go from there.
But then the older these ppeople are the more they think they are too old to learn anything.
Anyways people are people and they will continue to do what they know best and that is too bad. Oh well, their lost.
