I am playing hooky (aka procrastinating) on some League work. It is not that I am not doing League work, I am just not doing some of it. The bits that I don’t exactly know how to do. This is my Cosmo from this morning at the garden. The flowers are still going strong even though the temperature has turned a bit nippy. You can see some of my artfully arranged red maple leaves there. And yes, I do know for best results you are supposed to mow them before used as a mulch, but I live in an apartment and do not have a mower.

My hair has gotten ridiculously long and although it has been holding its shape, and I know long hair is in these days, it seems a bit unseemly at my age. I have needed to get it cut for a number of months. The person who cuts my hair, Walt’s partner, has a full client load, so I had to wait for a cancellation. That came up for tomorrow. Ha, I wrote that and she texted to confirm right then. I am happy to have it scheduled but my week is already busy, especially because I am procrastinating. But still it will be nice to have that done. I have been wearing it clipped on top of my head except when I am teaching for weeks. I am slowly going white gray around my face.

I discovered a new thing about my fitness tracker watch. Because I keep track of my cardio and I try to work within specific beneficial zones when exercising I thought okay, I can track that. Then I realized that when I went to post the zone breakdown after an activity like brisk walking, every time the numbers were slightly different. What the heck. It turns out this tracker does dynamic heart rate zone tracking. Whoa. It adjusts for real time variables. I guess that is cool. But it is not what I am used to, and I don’t quite know how to use this information effectively.

It does tell me my VO2 Max is excellent and that I am in the top 10% for my age and gender. Considering that I am not an athlete that is not bad. It is always telling me things throughout the day and as it is still new, I keep setting benchmarks. This afternoon it told me that my Fitness Age had dropped from 65 to 64.5. Apparently, my Fitness target age is 63.5. Interesting.

I think my target age is 35, but that is just a dream some of us had…

We are getting closer to getting troops in our fair city. The Oregon National Guard is hanging out at one military base and the California National Guard at another waiting to be deployed. We still have a second temporary restraining order in place after the first one was overturned. This may go up to the Supreme Court as there is currently a district split with Chicago’s district. I don’t think there is any doubt how they will rule and we will see troops soon.

We had cold fog this morning, but it has turned into a beautiful evening. The light is a gift as the days get so much shorter. The better to scoop up the last of the red maple leaves with.
