Well, Best Bud and her sister were not here very long at all! Last entry, I ended with a little bit of a frantic sign-off because I realized that BB and her sis would be at my place earlier than I thought as the concert was actually Friday evening instead of Saturday morning!
Turns out, they got a flat tire on the way here, so that ate up the couple of hours we were going to have before the concert. They decided just to drive straight to the location. I was not invited to the concert, which is fine. I’m assuming that they were frazzled from driving and getting a tire repaired and zooming over to the venue. But I was invited to go out to dinner after the concert (at 9:30pm!).
Do you know what I was doing at 9:30pm on Friday night? I was taking a catnap because I knew that BB and her sis would come flying into my place like a freaking whirlwind… and I was right!
So, I didn’t even go to the dinner. It bummed me out a little bit because I would have actually loved to go support Best Bud’s son at his university concert - he plays all of the saxophone family instruments, and he’s really good! But I just can’t seem seem to stay awake much past 8:00pm anymore!
But the catnap was perfect, because by the time they got to my place at 10:40pm, they were slap-happy and I was awake!
We ended up chatting and laughing until almost 2am! I’d gotten Best Bud a bunch of birthday gifts and some bubbly (alcoholic for her and N/A for me), and we sat up and laughed and laughed and laughed.
Just what my soul needed.
Best Bud slept with me in my bed while her sister took the guest bedroom. Is it weird to feel warm and fuzzy about another human sleeping next to me? That’s how I felt. In the morning when I woke up (long after the sun had risen…so nice!), I looked over to see her sleeping peacefully. It made me happy.
We got up and did a wonderful slow morning with coffee and croissants and a bunch of healthy (and not-so-healthy) fixins I’d gotten for us to sample. We talked and laughed some more, and then they had to leave late morning to get back as they had a celebration planned for their dad’s 89th birthday later that afternoon!
They came and went like a whirlwind. And then my apartment was back to being silent. I missed them immediately.
Sunday was fun, though! I need to tell you about my walking group, but I gotta get ready now.
It’s Tuesday morning, and we’re back to the work week. Bluh.
See you soon!
