Good Monday Morning! Protein coffee and supplements to start the day. Next up, journal writing, a meditation/manifestation session, workout, shower, werk.
Head Cat is OOO all week, so that means I think my time will be spent productively alternately getting things aligned to discuss with him when he’s back and job searching.
Fucking Trump said in an interview over the weekend that it’s okay that the United States will go into a recession, so that’s neat. What a PRICK. His little story about kids at Christmas not needing 30 dolls and just getting them 3 or 4 dolls is absolutely unhinged and so out of touch. And did you see that he posted a photo of himself as the pope? I mean, it’s a waste of my energy to write about him and think about him. Honestly, this is what he wants us to do - spend energy on HIM. It is not good for my health at all, so I’ll stop.
I communicated with my college sweetheart over the weekend. I saw in a FB post from his brother that their dad passed away on Friday and Sam (my old college love who lives in France) just happened to be flying back to the US for his annual visit.
We had a really nice series of messages, and I did a lot of thinking.
My peers and I are now at the age of our lives where our parents are dying - essentially of complications from aging and we are all moving out of “middle age” into “elders”. We are taking the places of our wise older generation. Isn’t that insane to think about? Especially because I still don’t have things figured out! HOW are we now the wise generation?!
I also spent most of Saturday night watching all eight episodes of The Four Seasons. Talk about not having things figured out! Every character in this series is sort of similar to The White Lotus in that they are flawed and you find things you love and hate about each one, and it’s funny-ish. I know I watched the original movie, but I don’t really remember it.
Sunday was the first Sunday of the month, and that means volunteer morning with the thrift organization. It was fun, though there is always some kind of scuffle with the people who show up (the group we serve is the unhoused community of the city). This time, a woman was grabbing everything she could grab, not really looking at what it was and kind of hogging/hoarding so many items! Other people were getting agitated because she was grabbing everything. There’s NO WAY that she needed all of those clothes. She ended up with a gigantic pile of clothes and others kept coming to me telling me it wasn’t fair. Unfortunately, we are not there to break up scuffles and, as I’ve written before, this community has their own “rules”. In the end, they kinda ganged up on this woman and she ended up having to run away with a stroller carrying a mound of clothing. It was almost comical, but sad.
Afterwards, Diane met me for coffee. After her layoff, she’s figuring out her next steps. She’s fine. She already owns a condo in another city where the rest of her family is and she is already in good shape to retire (even though she’ll probably get another job). But I do understand the stress of losing your job when you’re not prepared! I don’t envy her, but I also know that this is an unfortunate trend that’s going to be happening all over the place with a lot of companies, so it’s just better to be braced for upheaval at all times.
OK, gotta run. Time’s already gotten away from me!
Have a great week, everyone.
