My Civic Duty
I’m writing this in a courtroom waiting in a jury pool. The courtroom is across the street from our house, so it was very convenient for me to get to. And unlike in the city, they let you take electronics into the courthouse. And they have wifi too, so I can write on prosebox. But I can’t connect to work from here because the wifi is not secure. And I don’t have cell coverage in the building either, so I can’t tether with my phone either.
I guess it’s a day off work then. I suppose I can work on the inventory bot. The weather is getting nice and I realized we’ve gone through a full winter in the new house already - at this point there were moments when it felt exactly like the first few weeks after we’d fully moved in. Though, La Professeure had just finished deciding the location of things in the kitchen only last weekend. And we still haven’t decorated the house - we’ve only been looking through our photos to decide which ones would be artistic to print out as decorations.
It’s been 13 years since I last served jury duty - the last time was a few weeks after I was naturalized - and I hope this time will be as easy.

Deep Pockets
My amateur organisation is going to hold its first fundraiser next month at ENT doctor’s apartment. I’m surprised La Professeure and I were invited - we don’t have very deep pockets, and I’m not great at cozying up to people who do, so I’m not sure what I’ll be doing there since I won’t be great at giving or persuading people to give.
I ended up booking the less-glamourous performance space for monthly recitals next season because I was late - the nicer and more expensive one is already booked up. So the decision was made for me. Now I’m hoping it has the intended effect of discouraging semi-pros to take up the space of real amateurs.

Under the hood
At this point we are close to wrapping my previous project. Using our code, New Hip Company has moved Petabytes of data under the hood from one building/region to another while they were in use, but without any users noticing. It went at a better speed than I’d expected, with the same amount of issues cropping up as I’d expected.
It went pretty smoothly, and would make for a good publication if anyone bothers to write it up.
