I’ve taken a detour to pursue a different profession than the one I went school for. Related and transferrable, but different. And I think it’s something that aligns more with who I am and what I want to do. After graduating I waited a month before applying for work; I felt anxious about the whole thing. I gave myself more anxiety after reading and hearing about the job market. It took me a week and a half before I was offered the opportunity to work in a big company or a small firm. I chose the small firm because of the opportunity to work with a team of different professions on diverse projects.
It’s a small design-build firm in my city that specializes in sustainable buildings and there’s definitely a lot to learn from here. So far I’ve been creating and analyzing 3D models, learning more about mechanical design, making real-world impacts, and help make the environment a little greener. Pay is great. Hours are great. Everything turned out pretty well.
I’m thinking of adopting a second cat.
