Name: Kind Kevin
Introduction Platform: Bumble
Age: 54
Relationship Status: Divorced 2 years, three adult or nearly adult children - one daughter joined the Israeli army! The younger daughter (17) is spending the summer in Italy and then headed to Israel for 5 weeks! I would be terrified, but he doesn’t seem worried. Then a son in his 20s and I can’t remember what KK said about him.
Job: Civil Engineer
Lives: In a neighborhood nearby the cool lakeside coffee shop I love so much
Length of Date: 3.5 hours
We Did: Paddleboarding on the lake! Then coffee and brekkie tacos. We met at a launch pad at the lake. He had packed 2 SUP boards and all the accoutrement. Said he had all of the equipment because his kids love to go out on the lake, but he hadn’t been on the lake at all last year or this year yet. As it turns out, one of his boards had a leak after pumping it up, but he didn’t have anything to patch it with. I happened to have some tape in my car, and I tried to just tape over the two leaks where I could hear air whooshing out, but it didn’t work that well. Bottom line, we were able to go out for about an hour before his board nearly sunk…and after I’d already fallen in the lake (!!!). It was kind of hilarious, the two of us out there. Me, with no grace and he, sinking. Good think he is a good swimmer. We had a good laugh about it all and he told me he was impressed with my adventureout spirit. After we both had a splash, we pulled the boards out of the water and packed everything back up into his SUV and headed to the coffee shop.
He Looked: Sweet boyish face on dad bod. We went to the lake so he had on swim trunks, a tee and a baseball cap. Water shoes
I Looked: Black athletic dress, water shoes, hat with hair pulled back, tons of suncreen! Waterproof phone and goodie holder.
Convo: We were able to chat a lot more at the coffee place. We sat out on the deck and dried off very quickly in the hot, summer air. He’s a super, super nice guy. He told me he’s written a few books (!), but I’m not 100% sure what he meant by that. I think he means that he journals, which is awesome. He is very involved in his synagogue and it sounds like that’s where most of his friendships come from. I can tell he’s just such a kind soul based on his demeanor and the stories he told me. He’s so freaking laid back!
High Point: Getting out on that lake on a paddleboard and floating around! It’s something I’ve been wanting to do ever since I moved here.
Low Point: Falling off the board and into the lake! It really was no biggie, and he helped me get back on. I’m just glad I had decided to throw on the life jacket because it would have been harder to get back on if I’d not been wearing it!
How It Ended: After coffee and breakfast tacos, he asked me if I wanted to try paddleboarding again after he got some patches to fix his deflated board. I said sure! The weird thing is, he didn’t ask for my number or anything, so I’m not sure if he was just being nice or not. I suppose time will tell. He can reach me via Bumble, but I’m not holding my breath for anyone - especially after thinking things were about to happen with that guy Chip 😭
Chances Are: Who even knows anymore?
