June 9 - My Dog Walks Me... in These Foolish Things

I had the most interesting experience yesterday. I was walking Martini, and as usual, she got stubborn at one point and pulled me over (she’s a strong 8.5 lbs!) to the front door of a beautiful smoothie and juice establishment where there was a very nice, fancy dog bowl in front of the door. This is normal for her. She can be incredibly stubborn on our walks - especially if it’s just me walking with her because she knows she will always have me wrapped around her tiny paw. And of course, she needs to hydrate!

Anyway, as she approaches the water dish, a man stands up and opens the door to the shop and yells inside for someone to bring ice for the dog dish and then he proceeds to tell me that the water she’s about to drink has been “quadruple filtered” and some other stuff I didn’t even catch.

Turns out that, yes, he is the owner of the establishment and off we went on an AMAZING conversation - excitedly chattering nonstop for a good 20 minutes. How does this happen? I don’t know, but in the end, we were both talking about the universe and God and synchronicity and angels and personal growth and transformation, and suddenly he tells me that he wrote a book about his own transformation and that it’s a best seller and yada, yada and I was like, “What’s the name of it? I want to write this down!”

And he says, “Oh no, you’re not going to pay for a book, I’m going to give you my book!” And he runs into the beautiful smoothie shop, grabs a book, yells to someone working, “Please owner comp this book!” and comes back out and hands me the book!

I thanked him for such a kind gesture and we bid our goodbyes and I went home and spent the rest of the day reading that book. I was so enthralled that I read all 239 pages in one fell swoop! It was a raw and painful memoir about horrible drug addiction, sexual abuse and homelessness, but I couldn’t look away, and in the end I read about so much personal growth he’s done.

So much, in fact that he’s a multi-multi millionaire now with a whole chain of these smoothie/juice bar establishments. I looked on the website - there are now 19 locations all across the country - and growing!

I just love it when things like that happen!

I told [Athena] about this chance meeting and how I told this guy all about being in Bentonville at the Crystal Bridges museum (long story, but he’s a HUGE crystal freak and the Crystal Bridges houses the Holy Grail, which is the largest quartz crystal cluster ever mined in Arkansas - I originally thought that it was the largest in the world, but I was wrong, heh). Anyway, I showed him the photos that I had on my phone and he looked up the museum and Bentonville and he thinks he should go there to check things out and now [Athena] and I think that they need one of his smoothie shops in Bentonville and [Athena] should run the place!

Wouldn’t that be AMAZING!!

So I just emailed the guy. I’m trying to connect the two of them. I hope we can put all of this GOOD ENERGY together and make something absolutely miraculous happen!

How crazy would that be? All stemming from a VERY stubborn dog on a Saturday morning walk!

xo,
