Even though I’ve had my heart broken a thousand times
Nothing has compared to when you broke it in two
So stay away, for it is no longer strong enough
For you to be in spitting distance whilst I’m licking my wounds

It would only raise hope where there is none
Like hoisting up the sails before sailing off into the blue
Some happy ever after fairy tale ending
That has no hope of ever coming true.

Now I don’t sleep any more
For the fear that I may dream
Some nightmarish vision
That would only make me scream

And what’s the point of dreams
When they all seem so unreal
When they bring what you want to within touching distance
But far enough out of reach not to be able to feel

So, even though you broke my heart in two
I’d let you do it a thousand times
Because if there was a thousand endings there could be a thousand and one starts
And you only need to get one of them right, next time.
