My pregnancy is 83% complete....well, that is, if I deliver on my due date...which I won't!
Tina, to answer your question, I did start a registry at Babies R Us....its so overwhelming though! I go online or walk through the store and its like everything looks nice but do I really need it? So, this week in baby news.....I had an appointment on Monday with my OB. Everything looked good. My protein level dropped from 3,600 the previous week to 2,700 this week (apparently anything over 300 is considered high....so I am off the charts)...but going down is a good sign. I gained a pound which makes 6 for the pregnancy. More than I was hoping for, but I guess I cant complain about that when there are people that have gained 50 lbs. Nothing else to report from that appointment, really.
Tuesday I had an appointment with maternal fetal medicine. The baby was measuring well and had flipped back to head down...wooo hooo. I think I read that after about 34 weeks they dont have too much room to do much flipping, but we shall see. The fluid and size of the baby looked good and whatever else they check (kidneys, stomach, practice breathing, etc). After that I went across the hall at the hospital for my Non Stress Test. All looked good there and when I met with the doctor at the end he suggested that we do steroid shots for the baby's lungs. They had talked to me a couple of weeks ago about it but I felt unprepared about making a decision. I know they are beneficial for developing lungs but I didnt know much about side effects. He told me that there are really not any negatives.....my blood sugar and blood pressure could be slightly elevated from it. A nurse even told me that they have done studies on babies with and without steroids and the results are just so for steroids that they havent finished the studies because they help the babies so much. So, Tuesday morning i got my first steroid shot for the little nugget....right in my butt. And, damn that is a long needle.
Well, the second round of steroids has to be 24-48 hours later so Wednesday after work I headed back to have my second steroid shot...in my other butt cheek. Had another non stress test with that one. Baby was looking good. The heart rate has been in the low 140s lately but bouncing up to 160 ish. Well, when she put that needle in my butt it jumped to the 160s...it was funny. Baby looked good so I stayed for the testing period and came home to crash. I dont know if I wrote about it in here but I have had a cold for almost 2 weeks so I have not been sleeping all that well at night. I am up to pee 340985 times and I cant breathe...its really a lot of fun. I feel fine now, its just the breathing and the cough.
Thursday I had NO appointments! And Friday I did my 24 hour urine and headed back for my usually scheduled NST and blood work. All looked good. The heart rate was higher on Friday, not sure why. It was in the 150s and then going in to the 170s during accelerations. That was the quickest NST I have had because baby was cooperating so well. I think I was only on the machine for like 1/2 hour. The blood work came back around 8ish and that all looked good so the Dr. came in and said they would call me in the morning with the results of the urine test (if I needed to do anything else...aka come back to the hospital). I did not hear from them, so I am assuming that all is well! Wooo hooo.
In other news, I got our pack n play this weekend so this baby officially has a place to sleep...well, its in the kitchen still, but I ordered a waterproof mattress pad and a couple of sheets which I will wash soon so that I can put this all together and make it real! My Mom is going to order the stroller/car seat combo for us at some point. I also have maybe 10 outfits or so all washed and folded. Last weekend I put the girl coming home outfit and the boy coming home outfit in a bag so that those are ready just in case. I have a few receiving blankets and 2 packages of diapers. I am sure we will think of more that we need but for now I am feeling like we have the necessities. Yikes! This is getting real!
I am sorry that my diary has turned in to all baby..I cant promise that will change....
