I stole this from one of my favorite people, and while my computer is in the middle of its bi weekly backup and I’m finally out of FAT CAT plop mode from too much chinese buffet, i’m just gonna post a few of my favorite things, and why they are so in no particular order here they are:

Start off with the Obvious, BOARD GAMES

1: Empyreal Spells and steam: This is a magic train game. But the cool thing is its so easy to teach and learn (can teach it in like 5 minutes), really customizable, and can play 2-8 (i’ve never played it at 8 but i want to SO BADLY)

2: Millennium Blades: Do you like magic the gathering or are you like me and Loathe CCGs? Millennium blades is the game for you! This is a CCG simulation game. you buy “Packs of cards” From a market deck, make a 8 card “Tournament” deck and then play that out, you are also trading cards, making a collection. This game is so unique, and TBH If i could save one game in my collection this would be it. I can still easily get Every other game but this one I have EVERYTHING to it, and some of it (like the last big box expansion) might not be ever reprinted. Its also funny. There is a promo pack for another game, that i might get (TBH i’ve thought about getting the game but its just funny this is my pushing point) that uses this game, but even if i dont have the game i want the promo pack.

3: Ultimate Railroads: The best worker placement game out there. It has such cool combos, lots of variety (There are 4 different modes, Russian, American, German and Asian and they all take the basic premise and add a few tweaks so they all play differently) The best part of the game is in the first round you might score 2 or 3 points but by the end you are scoring 100 points a turn. Its great.

4: Sidereal Confluence: This game is basically trading cube A and B to make cube C and Cylinder A, and bidding currency, you are then using the bidding currency to buy more things to make cubes. The fun of the game is, everyone is 100% different. It plays 9 players, in about 3 hours. (Everything is timed) Last time i played i drank about 6 bottles of water because I was so dehydrated lol (I was teaching obviously)

5: Tapestry: A fun Civilization sauced combo builder. The civ theme is pretty light but the fun of this game is its simplicity. you do one thing on your turn, but that might chain into other things. Plus you have a civilization that plays differently. Its fun. Really cool, and beautiful pieces.

Video games:

1: The 4 mass effect games (this includes andromeda, and anyone who doesn’t like it is a hater) The second best sci fi epic out there. Great story, great characters. you have a morality system (you can go super nice or super jerk) great music. I’ve played the base trilogy close to 700 hours on the new version and at least 10 times on the 360. Still enjoy it every time. Some real tear jerking moments (Had to be me, someone else might of gotten it wrong) (I have a home)

2: 15 of the 16 Final Fantasy games (and some of the spinoffs): Still the standard for japanese style role playing games. all are unique, all have good music, good stories, good characters. 15 though is total butt. Don’t play it.

3: The outer worlds: This brought to you by spacers choice, Its not the best choice, its spacers choice! Its just a fun FPS with good space dystopia vibes to it, that and Parvati is the second sweetest character in all of games, you just want to hug her.

4: Suikoden: I WANT THE REMIXES NOW. These games are basically about leading a country during a war. There is more to it, but they are so cool, you have 108 characters you can recruit, a BIG HQ that they reside in and 3 different styles of combat. (1v1, traditional and Army vs army)

5: Griftlands: The best deckbuilding roguelike game out there. It has 3 unique stories (That last about 3 hours each) some fun decisions, and 2 unique combats (although I tend to lean towards one and neglect the other) a fun rich world and I love how they speak. I wish i could see more.

Books:

1: Mass Effect Ascension: This is excellent because they introduce the daughter of the Anti-Hero (a drug addicted agent for cerberus, a group of Pro Human terrorists, by the name of Paul Greyson) and I think I like it a lot because the last third of the book takes place on the Migrant fleet of the Quarians, and they are my favorite ME race.

2: Mass effect andromeda Annihilation: This is on here specifically because the narrator of the audio book is just awesome. There are 5 main characters, 1 sub character, 1 voice of an AI type character who is a grandmother (long story) and they all sound distinct to the point of I didnt realize it was one person doing the voices. That and Yorrick is one of my favorite characters.

3: Seveneves: Whoo boy is this book long, but its the best hard sci fi book out there. It took me 2 months to finish on audio (because I listen to it in my car) and that was with a 6 hour trip in there. But It was just cool. There are 3 parts. Each part was unique in its own half, and I seriously wish there was more about the 3rd part, the world of 5000 years after zero. The seven races, I want to hear more about the history, and just more stories. I will listen to it again but its just long. lol.

4: Reckoners Lux: Another great book, a spinoff of the other reckoner books, and I think thats why i liked it, it just features a different set of reckoners. I also liked Lux the world the book is set in. Its also darker than the other 3 books.

5: Armada: The lesser known of Ernest Clines 3 books, I like it the most. Quick synopsis, A secret organization has been using video games to train the masses to combat an alien invasion. I think its kind of plausible. That and I like the characters.

TV Shows

1: Star trek (yes): The best sci fi out there. All of them (Except i haven’t watched discovery for whatever raisin) I like them all. DS9 is still the best, but lower decks, voyager and SNW are all good as well.

2 News Radio , 3 Wings, 4 Just shoot me 5 Seinfeld: I still love corny 90’s TV shows. these four are my favorite. The raisin why Newsradio is the highest is because there aren’t any Cringe episodes. Wings is 3 is because thats the first 90s show I fell in love with (there are a few cringe episodes), Just shoot me is 4 because there are a few more cringe episodes and seinfeld is 5 because while its still great there are a few episodes that are very cringe worthy.
It just sucks that news radio produced 2 of the worst people in the entertainment Industry Andy Dick and Joe Rogan.

Finally Movies

1: Citizen Kane, Yeah ol Charlie Kanes life story is still a good one to watch, it is fairly easy to follow, I like all the characters, and I like the rise and downfall of him. That and Orson Welles does a great job.

2: Big lebowski, its funny I hated this movie the first time I saw it in the theater, my opinion has changed drastically. This movie is just great. Weird, funny, strange and I always see what happens when I find a stranger in the Alps.

3: Royal Tenenbaums. This is just a good movie about the rise and fall of a Prominent family, its a great dark comedy and I love Danny Glovers Dorky Accountant Character.

4: Inglorious Basterds. This movie is just.. awesome. I mean it takes WW2 and turns it upside down, and Brad Pitt does a great job as Aldo Raine, and Christoph Waltz is AMAZING. And every time someone says they can speak Italian I quote the phrase from this movie. Thats a bingo y’all.

5: Clue: The best movie about a game out there. The three endings are great, its just funny, strange and all the characters are a blast.

Anyhop. those are some of my favorites, I might of done this before I can’t recall, but eh. My backup is done, my food coma has passed and i’m gonna play a game soon, be back in a week with the currents .

Keelah Selai.
