From Tuesday:
I'm writing this for my Kiwi pal who updates every day and is in need of gossip. Ha. First of all, I seem to have a cold. Stupid summertime cold. I don't understand how that happens. It isn't like we are cooped up inside with germs. Last night I felt wretched and didn't sleep well. Tonight I am taking the drugs and I'm going to hope to get more sleeping.
So, things on the man front are interesting. The one who is really far too young is still being persistent. He lured me in on a discussion of books the other day. He's so intelligent and...he talks very quietly and I just LIKE him a lot. Plus, FRENCH. And he has really nice floppy hair. Sort of like Hugh Grant's hair, but straight. I need to stop now. I may have a slight bit of lust for him. But...so YOUNG.
The other one, the much more age appropriate one, he's pretty groovy. Did I talk about him coming over? Yeah. He's an excellent conversationalist. And he makes me laugh. And he's 6'7". And black. And he holds my face when he kisses me. And sometimes he'll text me in the morning and say, "good morning my dear one". He's smart and he works hard and he has good morals. Right now, it's going to be a real challenge to see him because his work is demanding all of his time. I'm trying to take this time to be patient, to go slowly and to just see what happens. I like him. I don't feel crazy about him. I really love the crazy part, but I think it isn't sustainable. We shall see.
I know what will interest you, Oh Kiwi Goddess. My SMOTHER TALES!
Saturday:
I have had a very miserable few days with the plague. I felt like i needed to drill out my head to relieve the pressure. And you know, nothing works, medicinally. I get so jittery on decongestants, but I tried those (and shook like a crack head), Mucinex, ibuprofen, vitamin c. I slept, and that seems to have worked for the most part. I spent 18 hours out of 24 sleeping, it seems. I also watched all of Orange is the New Black, which was entertaining. I fell asleep during the last episode and then woke up for the final scene, so I'll watch that again today. I'm doing laundry and reading today. I may shower. I need to wash dishes and scrub the kitchen floor but that seems like pretty advanced stuff for the moment. Owen is at his dad's.
So, Smother Tales:
My mother called me about a week before my birthday and asked if she could take me to dinner. I said yes, and said that Lori would be here, and would she mind if she tagged along. To which smother said, "OH NO. We'll go another time. How about Tuesday the 23rd?" I agreed and that was that. On the 23rd, we went to her house after work and she wasn't home. So i left her a note and came home. Also that night it was about ten thousand degrees and I don't have AC in my car. So by the time we got home I was hot and irritated and crabby. And then my phone charger wouldn't work and Owen was assy about letting me use his. So I was PISSY. I had to go buy one, and then called mom back. She assured me I had the wrong date. I was pretty pissed, but whatever. She has these passive aggressive things all the time. So my birthday comes and goes. Dana made me the cutest cake in the world. (It was on FB) We had taco night. It was a great birthday. No call from Smother. So the next afternoon, I decided to call and see if she wanted some cake. I swear...it was the best cake ever...four layers of coconut and dark chocolate. Mmmm. She sang happy birthday to me, and asked me how it felt to be 31. I told her I didn't feel a moment older, but that my birthday was the day before. She insisted she had her days mixed up. Yeah. Right mom. You only read the paper cover to cover every day and have a giant clock that has the time and date. Anyway, she insisted on me coming over and making dinner. It was actually nice. We had a good time, and she only slurred me a couple times.
The best part was her gift to me. A Dyson vacuum cleaner.
blinkblink
Not a bad gift at all, but nothing I said I wanted either. I suppose it's something that she would want, though. I prefer frivolous gifts to useful ones as a general rule. It was just...random. And expensive. She never spends that much on my birthday. Anyway, that being said, I do like it very much and it sucked about two or three cats worth of hair from the carpet the first time I used it.
I am going to go forth with domestic tasks now and shower at some point. Maybe.
