It was a long day at work today. I find it hard to believe that I have at least another week of this. Late nights and long days. We've been getting out after 8 o'clock and pretty much have appointments every hour [sometimes every half hour or 45 minutes]. It's crazy. But that's kind of what we signed up for.
That guy with the dirty hands came back this morning. You know that kid from a couple days ago that I mentioned. His Mom actually came in shortly after he left and he ended up back at the office. That's how young he is. Like his mom was telling him to go home and wash the dishes. hehe. I had to try so hard to hide my smirk when I overheard their conversation.
Anyways, people like that come into the office and it makes me feel like I need friends like that. I don't even care that they're young. [I mean I'm not trying to make it a more than friends thing] I just like the idea of hanging out with these country guys. I bet they go fishing and shooting and listen to loud country music. This is probably not something I should be admitting huh? Too country. I've always sorta known it though. I loved all things "cowboy" when I was a little girl. And I grew away from it for a while but now it just feels like home. Comfortable and nice. The idea of living out there in the open and hanging out under a clear sky makes my heart flutter.
So yeah. He came in with his little brother. I noticed at one point that he was staring at me while I stood at the desk waiting for copies. Then of course I clumsily smacked my elbow into the fire extinguisher. That damn thing keeps getting in my way. yikes! I'm lucky I didn't curse [that's a horrible habit I've picked up lately that I can't seem to get rid of!] but said "ow" instead. He laughed and made a comment about it. Maybe asked if I was ok. I don't remember. I sorta avoided making eye contact with him, but I could see him out of the corner of my eye looking over.
If only he were about 10 years older. ha...
Later this other guy came over to make an appointment. I thought it weird that as he was talking to me he had lifted his hand to cover his mouth. Couldn't figure out what was wrong, or what he might be embarrassed about. That is until he went to walk outside and I noticed the huge amount of chew in his lip! Poor thing was probably trying to keep it from falling out of his mouth. haha! Crazy kid's gonna lose all his teeth with that crud.
Maybe that's what living out here is going to be all about. I mean not everyone is "country", but there are a lot of kids like that. I'm ok with this. It'll help me connect with this place. Just need to find a way to get in with the crowd. Where's the country kid when I need him?
jiminie! I didn't even notice what time it was. I need to get to bed. I get to actually sleep in tomorrow since we don't start until 11. That should be nice. But I have so much to do that I need to figure out how to get enough rest while also working all these hours. One day at a time, I imagine.
rose.
