That is Diego on the left, a relatively recent picture.
He died last night. It was probably a stroke, a blot clot cut loose. He died in the carrier on my lap on the way to the emergency vet. They were good about the whole thing. The vet confirmed and was thorough and compassionate.
The amazing Mrs. Sherlock drove us and stayed with me.
Most Honorable is going to bury him in their backyard with my other guys if there is room under the big blousy pink peony.
I feel surrounded by love and concern, and I am grateful for that.
He had a strong will to live and fought hard to stay with us. Somewhere between 10 and 11 years old, he went on from a distressing beginning to a full rich life.
He is missed. His brother has never lived a day without him, but he is adjusting.
That is what we do. We love them with all our hearts and when we lose them, we adjust.
But we never ever forget. Adios my friend and closest companion.

Oh, my friend, my heart goes out to you. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope knowing that he had a good life with you, knowing love and compassion, brings you comfort in the days ahead. Rest in peace, Diego. Run, climb, and saunter free.

I am so sorry to hear about Diego. There are no words I can use to make it better and I know it was quite a shock. Take care of yourself and love and cuddle his brother as you process all of this. My thoughts are with you.
