It’s late I should be asleep, but it came to me, as those nagging little things often do, that song, Sinner come home in the last entry, give or take an entry? Streets of Laredo is what I was thinking of. It’s not as close as I was thinking until you try to make it close in your head and then it’s impossible not to see the similarity in melody, you have to change the tempo a tad and make some mino’s into majors and vice versa, but yeah, Streets of Laredo, it’s got a lot of streets of Laredo to it.
Streets of Laredo is a pretty catchy old melody and is sort of like a secular cowboy gospel.
I could be high (as in, ‘Shut up dude, you’re high!’) I mean high in the figurative sense, I’m very likely high in the literal sense but that’s none of your business (not so much none of your business for me not to point it out which in a way is an admission by denial e.g. Methinks the Lady doth protest to much. Fucking bard should quit calling me a lady).
So bang the drum slowly and play the fife lowly cause tenderly silently Jesus is calling me home. You see what I mean --- about the song not the high.
