NJM #21 - Beautiful Day in These Foolish Things

Two days off in a row. Monday and Tuesday were like a very nice weekend. Tomorrow I will work a long 8-hour shift (I know that’s a “normal” workday, but it’s the longest shift I’ve worked at this little temporary gig, and it’s a long time on my feet helping the general public).

Today I had lunch with Best Bud and her SiL. My goofy but wonderful sisters.

We went to a hole-in-the-wall Thai place very close to the Treehouse, and it was lovely. This restaurant is off the beaten path in a funky little strip mall and behind a bunch of construction and they still get very loyal customers. They are that good. I loooove Thai food. We ordered family style and got a bunch of plates: fresh summer rolls, pad Thai, some kind of ginger dish and a delicious red curry. And of course, mango sticky rice and ice cream for dessert. The girls drank wine and I had sparkling water.

I actually had a lot of business to discuss with BB, and SiL sat quietly while we had a good chat about potential job stuff.

I don’t really want to get into the details because every time I detail something the deal goes sour, so…unless I need to put my thoughts out there for everyone’s opinion, I’m going to keep quiet-ish on the real job front for now.

After lunch, we said our goodbyes and I needed to go pick up something at the grocery store for the pot luck we are having at the retail store this Friday (BLACK FRIDAY). Since I don’t know these people all that well, I decided not to spend a lot of time trying to make something to impress (or maybe I should have???). I just grabbed a veggie tray. And now I’m second guessing myself. Oh well. It is what it is. It’s going to be chaos in the back room anyway.

Then when I got home, the weather was lovely and I needed to take Martini out for her walk so I decided to take her to the open air shopping area north of me where there is good walking and fun shopping. The air was still a little cool so I had Martini in her adorable pink fluffy sweater with sequins and she was an absolute HIT in every store we walked into.

Got all my steps in and Martini was properly loved on.

Then home and dinner was part of a gigantic kale and quinoa salad I meal prepped yesterday to last until Thanksgiving. I’m going to have to take a giant container of it with me to work tomorrow.

See? Beautiful day and now time for bed!

Pot lucks sound like so much fun. They aren't really a thing here. Maybe I should host one! xx

I've worked in many retail stores, and never once did we have a potluck. That's awesome!
