So when I woke up Monday morning, I found that the ace wrapping around the cast was coming off. In fact, the entire cast had slid further down over my fingers, pinching them badly. And my arm was no longer at a 90 degree angle like he wanted. The cast had....I don’t know....gotten a bit soft I guess? Below the elbow, so my arm was almost straight. Plus at the inner aspect of my elbow, the pressure was so bad it was starting to cut off my circulation.

I called the surgeons office and was told that it was ok to unwrap it and take it off. The hard cast didn’t go the whole way around my arm. It was molded to just the outside of my arm in order to keep it at that 90 degree angle.

Fail.

So I took the cast off! My fingers were hurting so bad. I have arthritis in my hands. So keeping them encased with the ace bandage for so long, where they were mostly immobile and the pinkie was getting crushed, it felt SOOOO good to take the darn thing off!!!!

The incision looks great. There stitches that have to be removed today. So right now I just have a gauze bandage covering it just to protect it a bit.

Wow was my arm WEAK!!!! Even picking up my cell phone was tough. It’s so strange how quickly the muscles can start to atrophy in even such a short time frame. I had been moving my fingers the whole time this week, but I couldn’t move them a whole lot because of how the cast and bandages had been put on. To be able to make a full fist and stretch my fingers out was heaven!!!!

Anyway, thats how things stand on that. Everything feels good . A bit of swelling around the incision. The muscles I mean. A good bit of bruising which was to be expected.

Finally getting sleepy so I’m going to go to bed.
