One Thing at a Time in Everyday Ramblings

From the garden this morning.

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately. Unexpected things coming up, like the day and a half notice that they are painting our building and we must remove everything from the patios and balconies. The facilities manager works from 8 to 4 and sends notices out, I am not kidding, at 3:59 PM. They do this so they don’t have to respond the same day.

Then the next day they said, oh, it will be the two upper buildings of the 6 in the complex. So now I don’t know when or how much time I am going to have to get my plants and pots out of the patio well and somewhere safe.

And someone wants a walkthrough tomorrow midday about the siding that is still in the parking meridian and not on the building. I at least was able to put in writing that I expected whoever is doing the walk through to wear a mask.

I have to return the lease paperwork with proof of insurance. All the annoying stuff of a life lived on one’s own.

None of my current students are agitating for a return to in person classes at this point. Right now, that is a relief. I don’t need to deal with the space issues and lighting and Wi-Fi and live streaming, although that is all out there somewhere. I do miss being in the same room but not the other stuff.

Mrs. Sherlock had some Covid symptoms and although she tested negative twice, she canceled our latest planned walk just in case.

Kes and Most Honorable came up for a visit yesterday. I hadn’t seen them in many weeks as they have been wrapped up in the unfolding aspects of their own lives. The cats got a lot of attention. Based on the way they acted you would think they never got any attention, which is, as you might surmise, a lie.

Then after getting belly rubs and ear scratches and toy deployment and laps to drape over they both gravitated back to me possessively.

My Bone Builders class starts on Tuesday. They record it and I am most grateful as I made an appointment to get my hearing checked and my hearing aids upgraded a year ago that is in direct conflict with the first class. It is so much more fun to take the classes live but I will make do. I can take the Saturday class live.

I finished reading the second book in The Rook Trilogy yesterday. The third book isn’t due out for a month, so I get a little break. In the books there are a lot of supernatural occurrences and a lot of surgeries and so far, all the main characters are female with great senses of humor and there is no sex. Can’t say I have run across that set of factors before.

Wish my plants luck this week. And that the power washers don’t show up during class.

The rest I think I can handle if I tackle things slowly and one at a time.

Love the photo. Love how will you manage your life alone. Always feel calmer after reading one of your entries.

Routine stuff can sometimes overwhelm. I am sure that writing and posting beautiful pictures will make it all better!

That's rather rude, only a day and a half notice? What if you were out of town? What they couldn't send out a schedule? I hope Mrs. Sherlock is recovered soon so you can get back to your stress-soothing walks.
