His name is Charles Sheeler. And here is a site that tells about him. Look at his quotes if you can. There are seven of them in the middle lower part of the frame. Click through to read them. Doesn’t matter if he can paint if he can give us quotes like these.

Here’s what his pictures look like.

He did photos too.

He lived in the same little outside New York City town of South Salem, along with FDR’s second to last vice president Henry Wallace and Rolling Stone Keith Richards = at different times, I believe.

I like the flat space and geometry of his art. We make the planet very different with our buildings and ideas.

I really like his Criss Cross Conveyors.

This was quite interesting. The quotes were quite profound in the understanding the artist had of both painting g and photography.

Some of his artwork, such as the painting of skyscrapers has a cold and foreboding g modernist feel to it, as if he is showing us how far removed we’ve become from our small town and agrarian origins.

I'm glad you liked it. I thought he was interesting. One of his paintings of farm buildings had chickens in the grass. Also interesting that he was a photographer and a painter.
Plus he reminded me of Gerald Murphy of Fitzgerald and Cross pens fame who painted hard edged industrial works. My kid is a fan of Murphy's and Fitz's too of course.

His quote on cathedrals and industry were so far-seeing, it felt, that when I got to his remark on bringing the nuts home to chew on them I laughed aloud. They are good quotes.

I like his art, but I don't think I'd think of them to hang at home. Then again, I hang nearly nothing.

I really like his work. I also really like anything with geometric shapes so that could be why :)
