I thought I wrote this entry last night, but I apparently didn't click or scroll the correct thing and nothing saved, but we'll have another go and see what kind of jelly happens.

It was my birthday yesterday, and it was the best birthday of all 31 of the birthdays that I've had. You see, it started off getting woken up by my beautifully adorable 2-year-old daughter. We performed our little morning ritual (I wake up, smooch her face, then I go pee and she follows me into the bathroom and sits on her little potty with her diaper still on, then I get dressed for my day, change her diaper, and then we sit down and eat breakfast together). It feels like a bit of a dance number that her and I have been honing over time, I love it. I gave her some cheese and raisins and her Minnie Mouse bottle with "nice cold water" in it, and I ate my yogurt and 28 almonds and we just eased our way into the day. It was easy. It was lovely. It was just perfect.

I rocked my day of dish-ass-kickery. Meredith (the cook we've hired that hasn't worked a full week her entire time working with us) did not show up, so Laurie had Kerry help her out with cooking, while Michelle and I kept customers happy and dishes sparkly. We rocked the whole day.

After work I quickly took a shower and then snuggled with Ashley (she was adorably clingy seeming to know I was going out without her and Sezzie) until my brother showed up to take me out for my birthday dinner. We went to Texas Roadhouse (one just opened up at the local-ish mall) for some hunks of cow. I had the bone-in ribeye (it was as big as my face) with mashed potatoes and a cup of chili, and a 20-ounce Samuel Adams brewski. My brother (Nick is his name) brought up the beer thing saying he wouldn't order one if it would make me uncomfortable, so I replied with, "I'm actually kinda feeling like a beer myself," so it was settled. The food was out-of-this-world good, absolutely the best steak I've ever had, and the beer really made the whole meal shine. I love having a grown-up relationship with my younger brother, and just being able to tell him that I love him and appreciate his generosity. All of that made it the best birthday ever.

The only thing I noticed from drinking the rather-large beer was that I woke up at 2:30ish AM really needing to pee, there were no other effects besides smelling a bit like a brewery when I crawled into bed and having a relaxing and recharging time with my kick-ass brother.

I rocked my day of dish-ass-kickery today with no hangover whatsoever. I get to work all day tomorrow, too, since the teenage douche-bag that normally works the weekends wants his "three-day-weekend to have a good time with his friends," or something along those lines. Whatever, mate, more cred for me with the "higher-ups" (Russ, Barb, and Laurie) and cash money in my wallet. He does a shitty job, anyway, and I invariably have to redo at least a few tasks when I come in on Mondays.
