Adenomyomatosis is Possible in These Foolish Things

So yes, the results of my CT scan are now in my hands and discussed with my Oncologist.

And yes, the very good news is that there is no sign of cancer, there was that lingering wondering what that pain in my abdomen was, right?

So in addition to the scans saying the following:

IMPRESSION:
No evidence to support recurrent or metastatic disease.

The report went on to say…

Atypical appearance of the gallbladder fundus which appears focally thickened with low-density wall and contracted or enhancing mucosa possibly with minimal calcification previously. This appears to be stable. Adenomyomatosis is possible. A more aggressive process is felt less likely. CT follow-up suggested. MRI/MRCP could be considered to further characterize.

So to my PB friends suggesting gallbladder issues - YOU WERE RIGHT!

But what the fuck is Adenomyomatosis??? Well, I don’t really know (even after googling the shit out of it), but my Oncologist is sending me to the head of HPB (Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary) surgery at the hospital! I mean…whaaaattt? I think he’s going to want to do an MRI just to check into it further. Hot Onc tells me that this is VERY likely benign.

THEN.

Of course, we are coming up on a year out from my colon cancer diagnosis. And remember, I found out before I was even out of my colonoscopy propofol haze. So that means I need to get my annual colonoscopy next month. We also discussed having the surgeon take my mediport out at the same time while I’m under. I mean, why not kill two birds, right? I think it’s the best idea because I was afraid of having to stay awake during the port removal (that’s what’s normally done!).

Bottom line - pun intended! - is that I am swimming in doctors! Gallbladder surgeons here, butt probe docs there… who’s next? A gyno? Why yes, because I’m past due for a pap. And did someone say “mammogram”? YES! YES they did! My PCP has called in for the pap and the boob squish, so these offices are calling me as well.

I can’t escape.

At least I will hit my out-of-pocket very quickly again this year.

Sigh,
GS
