I think Ten is a pretty good album and all, but Eddie Vedder sounds like a muttering goat. He does, he does.

I'm about to have taco salad for dinner. YES.

The thing about Pearl Jam is that they were the last ones to the party. They were always considered the "pop" side of grunge, the guys who treaded ground that Nirvana, Faith No More, et al, had already stomped all over and made their own. Ten, whilst no doubt a great album, had nothing new to say, and subsequently ended up being Pearl Jam's best effort. Everything else they released sounded stale, but this is only because grunge had been totally played out at this point. No fault of the band's, exactly, but after Ten, the grunge thing had already started to decline - which is why everything Pearl Jam had done after Ten seemed so cliched.

Also, Faith No More killed it. Hard to top FNM in the early nineties, you know?

But, again, as I say - Ten is a stonkin' album. It's just a shame PJ never topped it.

Angel Dust and The Real Thing are great albums. FNM was under appreciated back then.

Ten really was their best album, Vs. wasn't so bad...everything was just kind of meh after that.

I totally agree

I mostly agree with this, although I think you should give FNM some more credit. Introduce Yourself was a blinding first album, not counting We Care A Lot (since most of the songs on WCAL were reworked for Introduce). Chuck Mosley never seems to get the recognition he deserves, you know?

Yeah fnm are good. I don't really consider Ten to be grunge really. I guess they did come from the Seattle scene but that album was pretty damn polished. I haven't heard anything earlier than Ten so maybe they were pretty grungy until that album came out, I dunno.

I do love 90s alternative music though too, don't get me wrong! I could talk all day about it.

Have you heard any of the early Sub Pop bands and stuff? I love that.

Who's Laughing Now? martian princess ⋅ May 24, 2014

Sub Pop? Not familiar with this term, explain it to me.

martian princess Who's Laughing Now? ⋅ May 27, 2014

Record label that signed a bunch of early 90s Seattle bands

Ah. Well, I like Soundgarden, and I liked some Mudhoney stuff. Not really into that whole Seattle grunge thing, though, really. I'm more industrial/metal/punk, if I had to choose three types of music.

martian princess Who's Laughing Now? ⋅ May 28, 2014

I used to be super into it in high school. I mostly listen to punk and Neko Case now.

Who's Laughing Now? martian princess ⋅ May 28, 2014

Cool. What punk you likey?

martian princess Who's Laughing Now? ⋅ May 28, 2014

I like pretty much all of it. So specific.

The Buzzcocks, The Cramps (one of my favorites ever), The Distillers, Sex Pistols, Horrorpops (I'm a big fan of psychobilly), Misfits (who doesn't like them), Demented are Go, Gogol Bordello, Rancid, Exploited, stuff

Who's Laughing Now? martian princess ⋅ May 29, 2014

Good bands all. I've been listening to a lot of Dropkick Murphys lately.

I started wanting tacos a few hours ago, I would probably kill for a taco salad though.

Ten is one of my top 5 albums.

martian princess Deleted user ⋅ May 23, 2014

What are your other top four? :)

TrippyNina May 24, 2014

I love Pearl Jam but I can't understand him half the time so I agree with your statement! LOL

Deleted user May 24, 2014

Yes, Eddie Vedder has a weird voice. I still like Pearl Jam though.
