Wow, what a week it has been!
My son came to town last weekend. He and a friend supposedly vacationing here, but I think his bud had different ideas involving a girl here, but least I digress, I shall just talk about my visit with my son.
I have not seen my son in a little over 5 years. We parted on very bad feelings, him basically telling me off.
We communicated a bit after a couple of years by e-mail and then eventually talking on the phone. We are now Facebook friends and communicate through that as well.
He arrived last weekend and I got to see him the first time on Monday, and it was great! He is an adult, a man, and it is so easier to relate to him now. He is on his own, living by his actions. I do not correct him or have to worry about him as this little bird is out of the nest. It is probably a horrible disconnect, but it works and allows me the opportunity to at least have a relationship with him.
On Monday we went out for Chinese dinner and spent the evening talking. Again on Tuesday we went out for dinner and talked, lots of talking. On Wednesday he and his friend came here for a cookout and beer. We did hamburgers and brats and on that day my son bought me beer for the first time! We all had a great time, much soul searching and mending took place that evening.
The next two nights I did not want to fill his dance card and left him to be with his friends and to see the sites and sounds of the City.
Then on Saturday he and I went to the Georgia Renaissance Festival and he had a fucking blast! We had biscuits on the trip down and arrived at the opening of the gates! Once in the village we headed to the Jousting Arean to watch the Knights battle as I purchased us premium seats. We loved the Joust and afterwards I had my picture taken with our Champion and we got to talk to Leonardo da Vinci! We hit all the little shops and then went to see "Hey Nunny Nunny" and he rolled with laughter! He told me he really enjoyed the show. There were two Gargoyles walking about the village and I had Stephen pose with them for a photograph. Then he took me to the Hookah Bar where we shared a bowl of some strange tobacco. I have never smoked tobacco, I used to chew when I did construction, and I found I really enjoyed the taste, the actions and the calming times of sitting in this open air Hookah Bar.
Shortly after noon his friends arrived and I told him to take off with them, to share and enjoy the festival with them.
I walked around the Festival and finally found Debbie, Mandy and her guest. They were all shopping and wearing new outfits!
We ate and drank, me taking in several beers, sharing drinking with my son many times before we parted.
While there I went to an Armorer and bought a lovely 6 inch dagger handmade from high carbon steel and sharp enough to shave. I bought Debbie a cute little bodice dagger too. I found a lovely Claymore but it is over a thousand dollars, not sure if that will be slung on my back any time soon.
So all in all I had a grand week.
It was really nice to see my son, my baby boy.
I held him tight when I could, hugged him often and repeatedly told him how I love him and that I am very proud of him.
I am happy.
