Holidays & Family.. in Life Lessons

I know I’m a little ahead of the game here but what is a good schedule/plan to split holidays with family?
Here’s my situation: we live around the corner from my family - my husbands family is 3 hours away (close enough for a day trip)!

My family goes all out for holidays (mostly Christmas) we all get together and have a good evening!
Thanksgiving - my dads family all gets together for dinner (me and my husband are both close to this family)
Christmas Eve - evening/dinner with my dads family (the family me and my husband are close to)
Christmas Day - morning with my parents, then evening with my moms parents (we lost my grandma this year and my grandpa is in bed) so this year will be a big change there

My husbands family doesn’t really do much for holidays it’s just me, my husband and his 19 year old sister and his parents. They don’t make a big deal for holidays (literally the same as any other weekend, girls sit in the house, the boys go work in the shop) but my MIL throws a fit and wants us there on every holiday on the day, if we come the day after or the weekend before she doesn’t count it as us spending the holidays with them..

My struggle is what we should do… I don’t mind spending thanksgiving with his family and going to his family’s Christmas Day (evening) or the day after - that way we can spend time with both families & my dads family that we are both close too.
I know a lot of people trade off: one year thanksgiving with his family, Christmas with mine then the next year swap, I just feel like since we are only a few hours we could make it work where everyone gets time every holiday. Am I wrong? How should we schedule this? Any advice what works for you?
