And Yet in Why Worry?

How can you expect someone to not try to love you fully? Your husband? What do you really want? A live in friend, a revolving door of brief romantic attractions, shallow crushes imbued with your own false meanings? While you take care of your baby? (A rose in a glass case on a tiny planet.) You say glamour, I say facade. And hey, that’s fine- we’re all engaged in a performance at some level. But here’s what gets me- I just know you’re not so daft you can’t understand that people do want to love you.

We’re not refusing to love the entirety of you. You’re refusing to let down your facade.

How do you know that’s what this dude wants? Maybe he got a mixed message about the situation. You know. When you married him? When you bought the house? When you had his kid? You know, you’ve never been the best at clear communication. And it’s not always because you can’t be, is it?
