Trudeau's tattoo in These titles mean nothing.

I'm not too sure the people of Haida Gwaii are too pleased with Trudeau using their artwork (or one of the people's artwork) for his tattoo and not having ever really spent any time there. I can't even look at him and he's our PM.

I enjoyed both videos. My family lived on Graham Island (the large northern island in Haida Gwaii) for two years when I was 5-7 years old. My father worked for the Ministry of Forests "managing" the forest resource. The community we lived in was called Queen Charlotte Island at the time. Very colonial. The Haida and the European Canadians kept quite separate at that time which I'm sure was a good thing for the Haida culture. Over the years I've worked with members of the Haida Nation. I know almost nothing about their culture because there was no effort to educate the European Canadians about this culture. The Grade 1 and Grade 2 teachers I had were old English biddies.

Whatever people think of him, I think Mr Trudeau is coming to the end of his tenure. He's been in power for a while, long enough to accumulate scandals, and there's the pandemic emotion that generally leaves people unhappy with incumbents. On the other hand, he's also young enough that he could have come back for a few more terms, but I'm not sure he will.

The Haida were quite an influence on me as a teenager. Their art is so deeply infused with love of the natural world. Interesting about the tattoos. Do you watch Fable the raven on YouTube? She just had her third birthday. They are, like the Haida peoples, amazing.
