By now everyone in my immediate family has gotten at least one dose of the vaccine, for various reasons - Cheesedog , Spencer, La Professeure, her siblings and both sets of our parents. (Not me though.) So I’m cautiously optimistic that we can get back to doing regular activities - not they way we used to, but at least we can do them. It feels closer to the end of the pandemic than the beginning.

One hopes, at least.

I only realized it recently, but it turned out my main pandemic hobby isn’t music or side software projects - even though I am building stuff for the musicians group, but cooking. When we moved La Professeure insisted on a house with a larger kitchen than either of us had. I thought that was dumb. Now I see the error of my way.

Who does the majority of the cooking in your house?
I do now. Mostly because La Professeure’s schedule is more busy than mine. But I don’t know how to bake, so she has full control of the oven.

Are you happy with the cooking situation in the house? What would you change?
Yes. The kitchen is not too big for just the two of us so there’s not much to clean.

Who decides what meals to eat?
It is a joint effort.

Do you menu plan or choose day by day what to eat?
Mostly day-to-day, but guided by what in the fridge. There are some meals that require more planning ahead (e.g., overnight marinades), so those are decided a day or two in advance.

How often do you get take-out?
Twice a week about.

When you ate out in non-COVID times, where would you go?
Everywhere. Except for McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Mexican and Korean restaurants.

Describe your weekly menu.
Varied. Mostly fish, vegetables, potatoes.

How often do you go food shopping?
Every 2 weeks.

Which supermarket do you normally use? Why?
LiDL. Before that, Fairway. Before that, Stop and Shop. It’s determined by which store has delivery.

How do you describe yourself as a cook?
Still learning. I have a limited repertoire (literally a Google doc with links to recipes) that is slowly expanding.
