Name: Elixir Man
Introduction Platform: Hinge
Age: 44
Relationship Status: Actually, I’m not sure! We didn’t get into relationship status for some reason. I can tell he’s been single for a long time, however. I don’t know why - he just seems like one of those free spirited people that doesn’t settle down. Has two grown kids. He’s in business with one of them.
Job: Inventor. Rancher. Product Developer. Beverage distributor.
Lives: On a ranch about 30 minutes from downtown
Length of Date: 2 hours
We Did: Met at the park and walked on the trail with our dogs. He has a black lab mix of some sort named Fred.
He Looked: Wilder than his photos. His hair was longer and scruffier than his photos - which, I totally get because of Covid. Scruffy beard, which was nice. He’s very nice looking on the one hand, yet on the other hand he looks homeless. Not dirty, just scruffy and kind of hippy-ish. A tiny bit taller than me.
I Looked: Well, I didn’t feel cute from the get-go. I was wearing workout clothes, but since I’ve gained covid weight I didn’t feel great in my leggings. I also wasn’t “made up”, so I just felt kinda off in the looks department. I was also not super duper hyped about meeting this guy as he didn’t seem enthusiastic about meeting me.
Convo: Very, very, very, VERY one-sided. He had a lot to tell me and I kept asking questions. It was interesting to hear about his ranch and the greenhouse he runs and the people he’s working with and helping. He has all kinds of animals and runs a petting zoo as well (not exotics!). We talked a lot about the places he’s lived. He sort of retired at a young age after his company was bought and he moved to an island in Florida and ran an ice-cream shop until another one of his side projects caught on here and he had to come back to help his son run it. And the reason I named him Elixir Man is because he is in development of some of those magic supplement shots and immunity drinks. It all sounds so cool and he’s got a ton of stuff going on. Yet. The dude never asked me one single question about myself.
High Point: Listening to all of his stories was inspirational.
Low Point: Pretty clear he wasn’t interested in finding out anything about me.
How It Ended: The sun started setting and it was getting cooler. He was kinda like,
“OK WELL…nice to meet you…” and it was my cue to call it a walking date.
Chances Are: While the walk was nice, we could potentially go on another walk, maybe? But he doesn’t care about me or who I am, so I don’t think I’d date him.
Date Rating: B -. He’s an interesting guy and the walk was great, but…

It seems a lit if men of a certain age are very self centered. Or maybe they just forget how to have a proper conversation. Either way it is hard work.

At one point I'd have said, "But enough about you, let's talk about me." #andthatswhyiamsingle

Maybe he's like me and just talks a lot when he's nervous? Xx

He does not sound like a good prospect . :-(

Why would you go on a date and not ask one thing about the other person?? My mind is boggling!
