Things I Love in New Beginnings

Regards to .essie. who originated the topic of this entry. I liked her idea, so I decided to try it myself.

  1. Finishing a work out - I don't enjoy working out per se, but I love getting to the end of a work out, seeing the metaphorical finish line. There's a sort of anticipation that really builds up when my lungs are burning and my muscles are fatigued, and when I finally finish those last few steps, the relief just sort of floods all over me. Just as wonderful is the rest of the day. I realize, the good feelings are the result of an endorphine rush, but conciously, I savor the thoughts of how my body is repairing itself into a stronger version of what it was. I've done the work, and at that point I just have to let the results come in.

  2. Taco Bell's breakfast - Specifically, the AM Crunch Wrap and the Cinnebon Delights. Especially regarding the latter, people need to start buying those by the dozen so they don't disappear from the market. You, the person reading this entry, are to go to Taco Bell for breakfast tomorrow and try the Cinnebon Delights, then come back here and dare to tell me I'm wrong.

  3. ASMR - That stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. I didn't even know that's what it's called until recently. Growing up, I used to experience it whenever I watched Bob Ross on PBS. Everyone experiences a mellow from watching him, so I didn't think anything of it. However, I'd get this pleasant tingly feeling running up and down the back of my neck in certain situations. Getting shaved at the barber was one regular occurence. Other times, I'd experience it when a friend would teach me something about what they were studying. It wasn't anything I'd ever need to know. Perhaps I asked about his or her major or class out of curiousity, but the ensuing explanation would give me a buzz of sorts. Just a year ago, I randomly stumbled opon some ASMR videos on YouTube, and I realized I wasn't alone. If you don't experience ASMR, these videos will certainly come across as enigmatically boring. You'd watch one amazed at how a 30 minute video of seemingly pointless nothing could have so many likes. Another term for ASMR is "brain orgasm", so I feel super bad for those people who are missing out.

  4. Libraries - Not all libraries enchant me. Libraries that are heavy on flurescent lighting or due for a serious interior remodel or redecoration need not apply. However, libraries that fulfill those qualifications deservedly make my list. There's a serenity they force upon me, seeing the people doing mental labor in the midst of so much books, repositories of knowledge. Even when the patrons aren't studying for a class, but instead they're reading for leisure, their mental effort quickly rubs off on me and makes me want to get lost in a good book of my own. Even going back to high school, as soon as school was out, I would go to my local library to study and do homework because of that building's affect on me. That's probably why I was such a good student; I could concentrate hours longer in a library without mental fatigue setting in.

  5. A girl's pretty laugh - I feel sort of weird acknowledging this one, almost as if I'm telling about a secret fetish. Maybe it is a fetish, I can't tell. Nonetheless, there's something about a pretty laugh of a woman (notice I didn't say a pretty woman's laugh) that makes me melt. Perhaps it's in the way her cheeks rise in a smile or a melody in the sound of it. It's probably a combination of everything. Whatever it is, it turns me to putty.

Those aren't all the things I love, but those are the things that pop up in my mind when I thought about writing this entry. If you feel so inclined, use this topic in your next entry. Please leave a comment, even if it's just your user name, so I can read it.
