18: What age do you remember your first, “I wanna be a [job here] when I grow up”?

I grew up on a reservation in the Midwest. For those who don’t know, that is the poorest of the poor. We used to walk along roadsides to pick up cans to turn in for non-foods.

My dad was a non-trad student, so we had some help from the state. While he was in college, he also obtained a work slot and did security work. He would bring home all the old National Geographic magazines they were going to throw away for me. I remember looking at the pictures thinking, “I’m going to do that when I grow up. I want to see those places and animals up close.” I think I was like, five? Ish? I can’t remember anymore, but that is the one passion I used to have: photography.

Of course, life happens, and I didn’t get to go to college for photography.

Do you think it’s too late?
