It's been a week... in A Day in the Life of Me

I’ve been on a weeks vacation from work. Pretty much forced, as they will not pay out vacation pay for full-timers.

Found out the morning before Vaca started my Father in-law was in hospital with a perforated bowel, and that my mother in-law was basically told to gather the family.
Cue a panicking and upset D, and me a mess as it brought back the nightmares of Dad.
It was very much touch and go for the first few days, but amazingly he pulled through. With all his health issues they couldn’t operate, so we were all on pins and needles. But the meds kicked in, and we found out today, he’s heading home!
Such a relief.

The babes had their surgeries on Tuesday. All went well! They were pretty quiet activity wise until about Thursday. They seem no worse for wear now 😸

Boss called me Friday.

Don’t think I’m supposed to be taking about this yet but, end of January will be the end of my longest job position ever. All our brick and mortar stores are being shut and they are going to online only.
7 years....
I’m slightly terrified. There is such little chance of finding a job after the holidays normally, now will be even worse.
There will apparently possibly be a settlement, pus I have more than enough hours banked for EI, so I may be having ANOTHER unexpected long-term winter vacation. D says he is in total support of me taking the winter off of working
Time to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life I guess.
Better stock up on craft supplies 😂

Cases are on the rise here too atm.
Not as bad as some places like central and western Canada, but enough that I expect a second lockdown will be coming.

Oh wow I’m glad your father in law recovered, it must have been awful for D to be so far away.

Sorry to hear you’re losing your job, is that a result of Coronavirus? So many people losing their jobs because of it. I hope you can find something else.

Yea, the news on Pops was far better than we expected!
Job loss, probably. As for finding something new, that could be a bit more of a challenge sadly. So much uncertainty with retail right now, and my only other skill set has been out dated for years now ..
