Name: B-A. He’s from the UK but has lived in the US for 15 years and became a citizen last year.
Introduction Platform: Hinge
Age: 50
Relationship Status: Divorced two years ago after 18 years of marriage. Two kids, 16 and 12, I think.
Job: Corporate trainer for giant global corporation
Lives: The burbs close to the airport because he traveled so much before Covid
Length of Date: 1 hour (lunch)
We Did: Lunch close to my office. And even though I told him that I was being very careful and ONLY meeting people on outdoor patios, he tried to hug me as a greeting. No. No. NO!
He Looked: Very meh. Bald (nothing wrong with that, mind you), very boring short sleeved woven shirt, jeans, meh shoes, yellow teeth
I Looked: I purposely dressed for a lunch date today - zebra print skirt, off-the-shoulder floaty top, calfskin kitten heeled mules, all the accessories (necklace, rings, watch, bracelets). Like, I made an effort unlike him. I feel like Covid has made people schlumpy and less aware of their appearance.
Convo: Meh. Just superficial general stuff. I do believe we both asked enough questions about each other - it’s just that the sparks weren’t flying from the get-go. I think that when I back away from a hug it throws us both.
High Point: Lunch. I had sushi for the first time since Covid started!
Low Point: The usual. No sparks.
How It Ended: Our time was up and I needed to get back to the office. I told him I needed to go and he grabbed the check and even though I offered, he insisted on paying. I did not fight it. I thanked him and we went our separate ways.
Chances Are: Zero. He sent me a text an hour after lunch, “Hi Ginger. Hope you’re having a good rest of afternoon. Nice meeting you for lunch, bu I don’t believe we are each other’s ‘person’. Wish you all the best. B-A.
