“Four Years”

You have that good Carolina wisdom
That matches middle-aged gray
Yet you are but a young tender blossom
In what once was a garden fertile
Now boiling in disarray

They say everyone has a brilliance
A kind of spark that lights the way
When you are lost in your feelings
Gather up closer, now
Closer now
And turn the darkness into day

There are devils in the lights
And hard lessons in the pain
Separating the false truths
From the kept promises
Will lead you to salvation
Or your wake

And I don’t know a promise
From a prayer
And I don’t know a mistake
From a waste
I know a sacrifice
From a stranger
Can change the world
Of a man from a failure
That believes the danger
Means more than the effort
Given in the end

I do know this

The value of a sin
Relates directly to the lack
Of willingness within you
That exists to change
Everything you can

So change
Everything you can

Today marks 4 years clear.

It’s a beautiful day.

May you always find your smile.
