Time away in Parenting!

Well, I’m back home. We’ve been away for the last two weeks, just myself, Tom and Noelle, up to the Lake District in a self-catered small apartment. It was on ground level which meant no loading/unloading up and down stairs, yay! However, the hill from the village to where we were staying was a real pain though!

The whole area was under the lowest (tier 1) covid restrictions, even though Barrow went to tier 2 while we were there. It didn’t stop us though, as it’s such a lovely place there were always new valleys and lakes to discover, waterfalls, and on one occasion we went across to the west coast, got some fish and chips, and watched the sun set over the Irish Sea, while Noelle was only interested in a few chips and a nap!

The weather actually behaved itself - some threatened daytime rain actually ended up being overnight and it was only really the last few days that we were there that the weather really defeated us. However the room was nice and cosy, and we did manage to get out to eat in a few places, slightly out of the way (small country places with not much footfall).

We had a surprise visitor on the last night, while we were clearing up after tea, heard a noise outside, and in the tree right next to the building, a tawny owl had turned up and was happily hooting away for about 15 minutes or so… which was lovely to hear! I’ve heard owls before but never that close!

Back to reality after a lovely break away.
