Name: Lorenzo

Introduction Platform: Hinge

Age: 52

Relationship Status: Divorced a couple of years. Two kids (one autistic son who is doing very well and headed out for his first year of university in a town several hours away) and a daughter in high school.

Job: IT Security

Lives: In the burbs because of kids/school stuff

Length of Date: A couple of hours

We Did: He met me at an outdoor patio close to the apartment building where I’m planning on moving (more on that later). I had been in the area all day yesterday and we had tentatively made plans to go see a new outdoor music venue, but thankfully we both decided to make it easier on ourselves and meet at the patio place.

He Looked: He’s extremely handsome - originally from Puerto Rico, so has that Latin swagger, but not in a machismo kind of way like some guys can have. He’s got a thin build that made me feel heavy. His hair is thick, wavy and impeccable. His smile is friendly and wonderful. I don’t even remember what he was wearing. Clearly doesn’t matter.

I Looked: Little green sundress that makes my eyes look pretty. Mask - until we sat down socially distanced-ish and ordered drinks.

Convo: We covered a lot in a short amount of time. Lots of stuff about the apartment hunt as it’s been top of mind for me - lots of stuff about how the area is different/changing. Lots of stuff about life during Covid (naturally). A little bit about relationships. A little bit about work. You know, the usual.

Low Point: Not sure.

High Point: Not sure.

How It Ended: We both looked at the time. I decided I needed to go because I had to call my parents (what a WEIRD excuse??!!).

Chances Are: Not sure. I’d really, really like to have another date with him to find out more. He was sooooo very friendly and nice and handsome and I don’t think I was flirty enough. Dang.

Date Rating: B

Exciting!

Ginger Snap The Thirsty Oriental ⋅ July 27, 2020

haha. Don't you say that for all my dates?

The Thirsty Oriental Ginger Snap ⋅ July 27, 2020

They all seem exciting! I gotta come up with more words. Good words. The best words.

Ginger Snap The Thirsty Oriental ⋅ July 27, 2020

I wish they were exciting, though. They are not! Not much you can safely do during a pandemic. And safe is not exciting!

Jinn July 26, 2020

That sounds good.

Fingers crossed for a second date. "Love in the time of covid" would make a groovy novel title!

You should ask him on the second date!

Ginger Snap Florentine ⋅ July 27, 2020

hahaha! I just wonder how traditional he is - I'm going to feel it out for a bit...

I really do admire your dating courage. I’m glad I’m old and settled and married. 20 years ago I was doing a bit of Internet dating. So is my future husband. I was close to 50 and he was
67. It seemed a lot of work and one day we realized that instead of just being good friends and comparing our dating woes, we loved each other. We were right there with each other through all the dating times. I was a stupid woman but fortunately one day I realizedThe person you should marry is your best friend. I have never had a single regret since the day we married.

Given the state of the world today, I think that's a pretty decent first date.

Sounds like he ticked all the boxes but the date was lacking a spark?
