Emotional Support Animal in These Foolish Things

Yesterday I registered my dog, Martini, as an emotional support animal. I kinda did it because when you do that, apartment management are supposed to let you bring your dog with you anywhere and you don’t have to pay a pet deposit or monthly pet rent (which is now around $30/month here).

Today, after a long day of dumb work (boss using me as his personal assistant) and depression over not really digging any of the apartments/condos/houses I’ve been scouting, and a super hot evening walk that left me drained, I plopped onto my bed.

When Martini came running, bounding on the bed and then plopping on my side giving me the biggest and sweetest kisses ever, I lost it. I broke down in heaving sobs and the tears finally, FINALLY flowed down my cheeks.

She truly is an emotional support animal. I needed that so desperately. What would I do without her?

Sydney cost us about the same here when we were renting. I should have registered her as an emotional support animal!

Sometimes I think we humans are the pets' emotional support animals too. Evidence: Look what it does for their mood when WE come home.

I have never heard of pet rent! I'm so glad you have her. Dogs truly are too good for us.

You have to pay for your pets to stay in an apartment over there?? They are ALL emotional support animals even though they don’t know it :)

Oh, Martini! I’m so glad you have her sweet little shoulder to cry on when yuh need to. I’m sorry it’s been so rough lately. Those tears were well overdue and I hope you feel better this morning!

I love how pets do that. I hope they cry made you feel a bit better.

FYI.

There is no Registration for emotional support animals under ADA. That’s a money maker.

Edited

Someone has taken your money, as there is no legal registration for an emotional support animal. In fact they are NOT covered by the same protections as a legit service animal.

Apartments will accept the certificate. My neighbor did it and I’m in the process of doing it as well.

I feel the same way about my pets :-)
