I went for a walk at night yesterday, after a very long time. It wasn’t something mystical but it felt exhilarating, especially because I live where there are lots of trees and walking space with identical looking quarters for university employees; I live in the university colony where a lot of families reside, it’s normal in my city and many people prefer this place due to its peace and calmness, and its alienation from dusty traffic and noise pollution. So as excepted of place like this, the nights are beautiful with dark trees on either side of road and glittering lights of the windows of other residents, sometimes a dog can be seen crossing the road or a cat sitting on the backyard wall of many aligned rows of houses.
Yesterday, I accompanied my father and sister in a stroll in front of our house, we chatted a bit, my father being the enthusiastic one when it comes walks, walking two steps ahead of us.
I focused most of my attention on the sky though, due to less traffic and lockdown, the air quality has improved so maybe it’s my delusion, that the stars were shining especially bright last night, I spotted the north star and kept my gaze up looking into the endless abyss of twinkling sparkle as long as I could, the weather was nice, cool night breeze and rustling of leaves made it a perfect moment to be out. If only I had a pen and a paper, I would have been able to pen down some poetry:)
Also I came to the realization that maybe things were not as bad as I assumed them to be, at least that was how it was for me, I want to look forward to the time when I can meet my friends and extended family in person, shake hands and hug each other, go out, eat at cafes, visit a doctor’s clinic without dread and terror in my mind. Hopefully that time is not too far away.
