Sick & Tired in Life

Of Pam’s Shit!

Nah, just playin’ It’s not going to be one of those entrires. Pam and I have really been working on communication lately and I think we’ve adjusted to the ‘new normal’ of the situation. Although she’s still trying to figure out a routine and flips it willy-nilly which drives me insane (As a person who likes to stick to a strict routine) but I’ll adjust too. Adjusting to change is one thing we both do really well, despite our emotions involved around the change.

But lately I’ve been doing that whole “I’m sick every week” thing again where it’s a constant battle with my sinuses. Realistically it’s probably allergies but thanks to my short time in Electroplating I now have this ‘to-do list’ mentality when it comes to problems and wanting to solve them. Especially when it comes to my health as of late. So I’ve done the Drink Water, Get Exercise, Fresh air etc and it was going well, then everyone decided to mow their 5inches of grass and danilions and I almost had a panic attack in a grocery store because I was so stuffed up I couldn’t breathe with the mask on so that was a fun escalation of events. I’m not sure what I’m going to do about that moving forward. Regular allergy stuff doesn’t seem to work (Claratin) anymore, at best it keeps it down to a dull throbbing in my nose and prevents me from sneezing too much.

Urgh, I just want to not be sick for a couple of months like I was when I was younger. So I started back tracking to when I was younger and cut out Pop and beer and all that ‘bad’ shit which worked out well until the heat wave came and I couldn’t really get outside anymore. Now it’s 5 degree’s and rainy and that doesn’t make for great ‘outside’ fun either.

My world view is starting to make my anxiety spike again so I’m probably gonna buy CBD drops today because I’d rather deal with that now.

I’ve also been working on my writing a lot more, maybe as an escape maybe as an escape for my american friends who are in the campaign. The latter of the two I just realized today that it might be something I need to do as DnD Sundays might be what they need to get away from their current situations in life. So I’m hoping to get around to Episode 1 by the end of this month.

We’re in June already people!! Where the hell has the time gone. I never thought time could move so quickly while we’re stuck in doors getting paid to sit on our butts. But I guess that allowance ‘ends’ this month? I think it was only ‘till May or that’s what Pam tells me. Still I’m going to call next Tuesday and see. It’s an automated service so I’ll find out pretty quickly. We’ll still be ‘fine’ without it but we wont be saving as much as we currently are.

The BLM Civil War movement is taking off in the States and Picking up Steam here in Canada (We’re slow to move) It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. On one side this is a momentous time for minorities to be treated equally, on the other hand your president is a tyrant. Based on the world of “two weeks and we forget about it” I’m curious how much fuel this movement has in it. And I also don’t get why it’s so hard to make the change? Like… “People are saying there’s an issue with cops killing black people” (and there is, I’m not saying there isn’t)
“Okay, anyone who kills someone on their shift gets detained for 24-72 hrs while we review all the footage and witnesses” Like… There. Done. I’m not saying that this would solve all the injustices of the BLM situation but it would sure as shit make people think twice in these detainment situations where people are dying due to excessive force.

I dunno, I’m so far disconnected from the situation (Being a white male raised in a small country town and then a small country city) it’s hard to say what the ideal solution is but seriously, making any change at this point is a step in the right direction… Well… any change other than calling an act of domestic terrorism…

Oof, what a world we live in, and what a world it will become after the fires settle.

"...your president is a tyrant", as an American and a minority female, I'm enraged at how true this is. I was called unpatriotic by own goddamn family, all of whom are minorities when they found out I didn't vote for him. There are days, when I just see the things he says on twitter or in press conferences and I'm so f***ing ashamed to be an American. This is not how we "make America great again".

Also, like your detainment idea. At least it's something, get the ball rolling in the right direction instead of the government sitting with their hands under their asses, like, "duhhhh...not sure what can be done here, but BLM!"

I really feel for the American People. Because I remember being younger and America was like the Great Big Brother of Canada. Growing up in the previous schooling system we learned more about America than we did Canada so I have a lot of respect for the country itself and it's people but it's one of those situations where few terrible people are making the most noise and getting the most press.

My heart goes out to all of you over the past 4 years, hopefully everything that's going on is just the birthing pains of change.

I didn't even know that about Canada. This whole make America great again has been a farce, at least for the last 4 years. I mean, I'm seriously considering leaving the country, maybe even Canada, anywhere but here. But at the same time, as you said, I hope it's just a painful road to change and not the "new normal" because this "new normal" I don't like.

It really is too bad that the people or peoples who represent this country are doing such a terrible job. There's too much in fighting. I mean, my parents, they're not alone in this, view anyone who doesn't agree with them as "the enemy". I mean, come on people, we're all Americans here. They believe anyone who doesn't share their beliefs is out to destroy this country. And maybe, just maybe they're right but I don't know. The opposing side lives here too and if you think about it many, from both sides want the same thing, just accomplished with a different approach. It just doesn't make sense to me, it'd be like if a bunch of people were on a boat and they're all going to the same place but one group thinks burning the engines at full power will get there faster but the other thinks slow and steady even though it'll take longer is best. And then one group accusing the other that because they don't agree that they're trying to destroy the boat. They're all on the same boat. If one group destroys the boat, they all wind up in the water and possibly drown. It's madness.

There has been talk lately of opening the Us/Canada border to political refugees because "USA is no longer safe" So maybe moving to Canada is a bit more realistic than you think! haha

Ohhhh, hmmm... Look out Canada, here I come! But seriously, I seriously do almost want to move there. My parents would be furious though. They'd never move there. I'd feel bad about leaving them behind but maybe it'll come to the point where don't have a choice. I honestly don't wish that because it would mean things have probably plunged into complete anarchy but what can I say?

Flonase is my best friend. I also switched to Zyrtec after Claritin stopped working. I have allergies REALLY bad. The only time I'm not suffering fully is between Novemeber and January but, I still have to deal with dust and animals.

I've heard about Flonase but not Zyrtec. I'll keep an eye out for both of them moving Forward, thanks!

I second trying zyrtec, or allegra. Flonase as well. If you haven't, go see an allergist. We have allergies that are very difficult to contain with OTC stuff.

This is what I'd recommend based on our experiences. Use a different allergy pill. Zyrtec or Allegra (generic forms ok). Use flonase or similar spray once in the morning and once in the evening. Also give this about a week or so to have an effect.

For my daughter, this wasn't enough. The doctor gave her a prescription pull to take along with her zyrtec (singulair, or montelukast which is an anti inflammatory), and second nose spray to use with her flonase. Flonase is a steroidal spray. The prescription nosespray is an actual allergy spray. She's had some success. Not perfect, but better. And she isn't super consistent either.

I am in the worst allergen prone area in the US (Ohio Valkey) and grew up in a city that was the #1 allergy prone city in the US for many years (and may still be). It's been a lifelong battle.

I like the idea of an allergy appt but we're 6months behind on that (probably more now because of Quarantine) so it's a long waiting list for people with more severe allergies. I didn't see any Zyrtec at the grocery store the other day so I may have to swing into a Shoppers Drug Mart or something along those lines.
