A Return to Hiking in 2020 Vision

Some more hiking trails have opened up here. Today was my first hike since they shut the outdoors down in March. They did open up some trails a few weeks ago, but as you’d guess, those few trails have been slammed with people. Luckily, they are starting to open up more areas, so that gives more opportunity for people to spread themselves out with options.

But I still had to wake up ridiculously early! I woke up at 4am! Its an hour and 40 minute drive to get to the trailhead of the hike I did today, and I KNEW it was going to be busy today. Today is our last good weather day before the weather turns to shit again. I took 8 hrs of PTO when I saw this weekend wouldn’t be a good hiking weekend. I got to the trailhead at 5:54 am and the trailhead parking lot was nearly full. Like, c’mon. Granted, its a small parking lot. The most annoying part of the hike, was seeing cars parked on the mostly single-lane forest service road that leads to the parking lot. I wouldn’t have been mad if those cars got towed or ticketed. Getting OUT of the parking lot and down the first mile or so of the forest service road was very tricky.

Here’s some pictures. The hike was worth the parking aggravation:

I’ve been hanging out with The Young Buck again. Mostly as “friends” now. Which I don’t have a problem with. Its nice we can still have a platonic relationship for as long as he’s here. His school in Ohio will be starting in August, but it sounds like he wants to stay in Washington until July. I guess time will tell. I’m just glad we can still be friends.
