First, cant believe that I am 29 weeks pregnant. I dont know if this is because I was planning a wedding through most of the pregnancy or what but this has FLOWN by for me. I cant believe I have 11 weeks left, or less. I am feeling good, generally. Its hard for me to realize that I am able to do less than normal. If I walk around too much during the day my ligaments hurt. My feet and ankles swell EVERY day. Im just not used to slowing down. Other than that I am feeling good. I havent been sleeping as well again but the weather was not great last week and I think that didnt help. Sal also got a second shift job which is exactly what we need with the baby (because we cant afford $500+ a week for childcare). The hours he is working now we will only need childcare from about 3-6, so hopefully we can find a babysitter/nanny that we can pay $12-15 an hour and not have to pay for full time childcare. But his new schedule (as of the past couple of days) is 4pm-1am. That hasnt helped with my sleeping either. I dont sleep well when he is not home, so I wake up a lot and then worry. I think that I will get used to it. Not too much else to report. I am doing a 24 hour urine test today because I had protein in my urine at my last appointment. Hopefully everything is okay. My blood pressure has been good, so hopefully just a fluke?!?! I have had some protein in my urine the whole time but apparently this was a little bit more. We shall see. I dont know if I wrote this in my wedding entry but I also got my results from the glucose test. I was afraid they werent going to be good because I am large and I have diabetes in my family. I also dont know if I wrote about being in the hospital. On August 21st I was in the hospital for a few hours because I kept getting really dizzy. They told me that my electolytes were off and my iron was a little bit low. Well, after doing my glucose test I am guessing the reason I was so dizzy is because my sugar was too low. I guess they want it to be between 80-110 for a pregnant person and mine was in the 50s. So they told me to eat more often and keep sugary things on hand for when I do feel dizzy. Now it all makes sense. So I am much better with that now!
Alright, so, on to the honeymoon. So, Saturday morning after the wedding my Mom had a brunch at her house. I woke Sal up around 8:30 and took care of his hung over ass! We packed up and cleaned the room up a little bit and left by 10ish. The brunch was fabulous. There were a lot of hungover people. I got to spend a good amount of time with my aunt Pat and Uncle Jimmy, my biological father's siblings that came from Virginia and Florida. I dont think I had seen either in 20 years or more so that was really cool. I also got to spend some time with my brother which was really nice. I dont see him too often and I really wish I spent more time with him. People were mostly gone by 2ish and we just hung out for a while. I went with my Mom to drive my aunt and uncle back to the hotel. Then, around 4ish we left my parents house. I was having a really hard time leaving. Lots of tears. I didnt want the party to end. I still cant believe its over! Two years of planning and so much anticipation of seeing everyone and how everything would pan out and its over :( so sad. I want a re-do! We drove back to our house and emptied the cars...we literally had my car like COMPLETELY packed full of stuff. We dropped it off, kissed the puppies, and headed to the Cape for the night. We got there around 8 and stayed with my friend Nicole and her husband Juan and 3 of their 5 kids. He has 3 girls from previous relationships and she has 2 kids from a previous husband. We crashed just after 11....I had gotten about 7 hours of sleep total from the previous two nights so I was a tired mess.
Sunday morning we got up and Nicole made pancakes and turkey bacon for breakfast. That was very nice! We left around 10 I think or 10:30 to drive to the ferry. We got on the 12 ferry to Martha's vineyard and its a pretty quick ferry, just over 1/2 hour. We sat in the back outside which was nice. When we got there we walked around for a couple of hours. We had lunch at this place called Captain Jack's. I did a little bit of shopping (bought a necklace for Heather and a t-shirt for Meg, the girl that was watching our dogs). We got a cab to the Inn which was $50. It was like 25 miles and he was great. We got to see some of the scenes of the island and he brought us to a really yummy chocolate factory and bought us a small box of chocolates. We got to the inn and checked in and checked out our room. It was beautiful. I will have to post pictures in another entry soon. Sal realized that he had left his nebulizer for his asthma at NIcole and Juan's house so he wanted to know if there was a pharmacy nearby. First of al, NOTHING was near by the Inn. Second of all, Sunday at like 4pm on Martha's Vineyard in September....probably no pharmacy opened. We went to check in with the people in reception and they said that they would look in to it. So we walked down the beach while they did that. Sure enough, nothing opened on Sunday...just the ER if we needed it! And that was a good 1/2 hour away. Sal thought he would be okay for the night and we would just check in with the pharmacy in the morning. We looked at the places near the inn to figure out what we were going to do for dinner....not too many options for me (a non sea food eater!). We ended up figuring out that there is a bus system on the island AND that there was a Tavern that was nearby too. So, we caught the bus and made it to the "Tavern." We walked in and were totally under dressed for this "Tavern." A Tavern around Boston you can get a meal for $20 a person, easy. Here, the cheapest meal on the menu was maybe $38 (not including salad or drink or anything....yikes!). Sal got steak and I got a bolognese....the bill was $120...that's no Tavern. Well, the next issue is that the next bus wasn't for another 4 hours. And, calling a cab in the middle of nowhere you could be waiting for a while. So, we decided to walk home. We also forgot that there are no street lights on Martha's Vineyard. Every time a car came we had to jump in to the woods so we wouldnt get hit! One time I rolled my ankle (didnt get hurt) but broke my flip flop. So we had to waste some time trying to fix that. Ugh. Oh well, just another story to tell. It was nice bonding time and a beautiful night. We got back and just relaxed out on our back porch. We watched the stars, Sal drank some scotch and me some sparkling cider and we talked.
Monday morning I woke up around 7 maybe. I watched TV and lounged in bed until 9ish when Sal woke up. We put some clothes on and went to the breakfast room to get some breakfast and eat outside. It was beautiful. They had a wonderful continental breakfast. After that we came back to the room and got dressed and ready and took the bus in to Vineyard Haven. We walked around, did some shopping (spent a ton of money at The Black Dog store), and took some pictures. We had a nice lunch at the Black Dog Tavern which was delicious! After lunch we walked around more and did some more shopping and headed back late afternoon to the Inn. Oh yeah, that morning we also wen to the apothecary to pick up sal's inhaler. He had our doctors office call it in there.... $60 later (YIKES!). He was fine once he had it though. We got back to the Inn and relaxed on the back porch for a little bit before heading down by the beach to watch the sunset. It was absolutely beautiful. We walked around a lot and ended up finding a great spot to watch it set right on the water. We had met a couple on the bus earlier that had sailed in, they were from Connecticut. So, while we were down by the water we ended up finding their boat and giving them a wave...it wasnt hard to find, it was in the middle of the harbor! We ended up walking back up to the Inn on the path, which gets dark pretty quickly once the sun sets. It was interesting. We ran in to a skunk, who thankfully ran away before anything bad happened! I had to stop and pee in the woods twice....gotta love pregnancy! The first time a couple came around the corner just as I was pulling my pants up...they likely thought I was having sex in the woods...nope! That night we did the same, hung out on the back porch talking and watching the stars while having scotch/sparkling cider.
Tuesday morning I woke up around 8. Again, I lounged in bed until Sal woke up and we went to have breakfast. We had to pack up all of our stuff so we didnt end up leaving until closer to 11. This time, instead of a $50 cab ride we hoped on the bus and rode around site seeing. We got off finally in Oak Bluffs and spent a few hours walking around. We had lunch at a place called Nancy's Oyster Bar and I wanted some ice cream so we found that too! We got on the ferry at 2something and got back to our car. It was nice to have a car again. We drove back to Nicole's to pick up his nebulizer and then headed back to our house and got here around 5:15 maybe. It was a wonderful, wonderful vacation. We hadnt ever spent that much time together ALONE which was really nice. We were stress free so we got along really well. We had a nice time together and bonded really well. It was hard to be home and not be together 24/7 which I did not anticipate.
Wednesday we both had the day off so we spent the morning together and then he went ot visit his buddy Chris and I went to see Heather and baby James. I am having a really hard time being away from him lately. Its new and different for me. I also cant believe that we are going to be a family of 3 so very soon! AHHH. Well, time to get ready for bed! Ill be back soon!
