"SELF-QUARANTINE IN THE EYES OF AN AMBIVERT" in "LIFE IN THE TIMES OF CORONA"

These are the days when you just have endless streams of thoughts inside your head. So much to say, not sure where to start, eh?

So, how does self-quarantine feel to ambiverts? For this one, lots.

For starters, ambiverts embrace both sides of companionship. Although they’re generally okay with having other people around, sometimes they still need their respective space too. They care about other people, but they also need their independence.

You’re good when dealing with solitude. It has never really scared you. If you’re also a writer, that’s even better. You get to keep your mind occupied. Write, write, write – all you like. You learn and relearn something everyday. Old, new, anything.

You start appreciating the existence of your loved ones even more than before. Before this Covid-19 pandemic, you’ve probably been too busy with yourself. You didn’t get to see them as often as they’d like you to.

As often as you should have…

Now you wish you had. Unfortunately, you still have to wait until this whole pandemic thing is over.

You miss your friends. Sometimes you still need other people to talk to, especially the familiar ones. Video-calls help, but they’re not the same like the real meetings.

On the other hand, there are people you’re glad to be rid of. They’ve caused you a great deal of annoyance, anger, or distress already. It’s been unfortunate that you had to deal with them on a regular basis.

Then suddenly, completely out of the blue, you no longer have to. Is this pandemic a blessing in disguise or what? Well, you can’t really say that for sure.

It could also be the other way around, though. Some people could be relieved right now that they don’t have to put up with you. Nobody’s perfect, remember?

Either way, these are the days to self-reflect and evaluate – or re-evaluate – your relationships. Whether it’s with God, other people, and nature, hopefully there’s an improvement for each after this Covid-19 pandemic is over.
