Yesterday and Today in Scottish Meanderings

Tuesday

Yesterday you spoke to me pitifully.
It's time.
Yesterday you struggled to eat, walk, drink, sleep, sit, everything.
And I knew.
Yesterday I had to take you to the place you hate the most.
And the vet also said,
It's time.
So yesterday we said goodbye, you and I, and that was hard.
So so hard.
But yesterday you were still alive.
Today I had to take you back to that place you hate the most.
And today you're gone.

And this house is far, far, far too quiet.

Sleep peacefully darling.

Camdengirl June 11, 2020

I'm so sorry - so hard, especially in the current situation.

Marg Camdengirl ⋅ June 12, 2020

Yes you’re right - I want to go out and distract myself with things but can’t - I’m taking long walks though so that’s helping :)

Ginger Snap June 12, 2020

Oh no! Oh, Marg. I understand this so, so well. My baby Tanner told me it was time too, and it is heartbreaking. Our tiny loves are some of the biggest loves 💗💗💗

Marg Ginger Snap ⋅ June 12, 2020

Thank you P! They sure are. This was doubly hard because he was the last of the three - can’t get over how deathly quiet the house is!

Just Annie June 12, 2020

Marg Just Annie ⋅ June 13, 2020

ConnieK June 12, 2020

I'm so sorry. I know you hurt but remember that you gave her (him?) a good life. Not all cats get that, but your cat knew nothing but love and care.

Marg ConnieK ⋅ June 13, 2020

That's very true - thanks Connie!

BaybNJoe June 12, 2020

I am so, so sorry! Hugs!! I remember Willow and a sibling (?). What was this one's name? I'm so sorry!

KT

Marg BaybNJoe ⋅ June 13, 2020

Thank you! This was Bailey. Willow & Bailey were the brothers. Then Snarf came afterwards and then Trooper (the dog) :)

IpsoFacto June 12, 2020

Marg, I'm sorry to see this. My heart goes out to you in this difficult time. May your precious companion rest in peace among the soft pillows in the sky. <3

Marg Deleted user ⋅ June 13, 2020

Thank you! He's off to join his brother and mate and the dog so there should be plenty of play up there! :)

NorthernSeeker June 15, 2020

I'm so sorry for your loss, Marg. The house must feel very, very empty. I'm dreading the day we have to face that.

Marg NorthernSeeker ⋅ June 17, 2020

Thank you T! I can't get over how quiet it is - feels like a morgue :(

Serin June 16, 2020

Deleted user June 20, 2020

Ohhhh I am so very sorry. This is painful. Sad!! She or he looks very alike mine who we had to take to the vet last year. The good life we gave him gave us
some comfort and I hope it comforts you also. BIG HUG!

Marg Deleted user ⋅ June 21, 2020

Thank you - yes it does and we had 17 years with him so he did well!

Deleted user Marg ⋅ June 21, 2020

Our Pruts was also 17 years old. He lived the life of a king! Smiles, but we miss him.

Marg Deleted user ⋅ June 21, 2020

Yeah they fairly infiltrate themselves into our lives don't they? :)

Oswego June 21, 2020

I’m deeply sorry, Marg. They become integral parts of our lives. Our dear Ginger used to spend every hour of every day sleeping next to Mom on the sofa. We lost her three years ago.

Marg Oswego ⋅ June 21, 2020

Thanks Oswego! And I'm so sorry Ginger didn't outlast your Mom - I'm sure she must have really missed her - they give us such comfort just by being there.

Robbo July 05, 2020

You were with her when she passed, and I assure you that meant the world to her. One day you'll meet again on the rainbow bridge.

"Until you've loved an animal, a part of your soul remains unawakened."

Marg Robbo ⋅ July 06, 2020

Very true quote!

edna million September 19, 2020

Oh, Marg, I'm SO sorry, and so sorry I'm just now seeing this! I felt like I knew Bailey too after all these years. I know you miss him terribly. We lost our Eddie about a month ago. It's an awful thing.

Marg edna million ⋅ September 20, 2020

Oh I’m so sorry Beth! It’s horrible isn’t it? Bailey being the last of the 3 made it so much worse. There’s a cat moved in two doors up from me and he’s been visiting occasionally when my door has been open so that’s nice - just sad that we’re now into weather not conducive with leaving doors open!😁
