Hello,
This is not my first blog. However, it has been over a year since the last time I wrote, and that turned into an epic disaster. I missed it, journaling. It was good for me. Unfortunately, last time I did not obscure my identity. Like a straight-up social media ingenue, I shared that blog with friends and family. What a great way to keep in touch! It’s almost as good as talking on the phone!
No. Not at all.
Last year, I inadvertently wrote a blog post that fairly pissed off my sister-in-law. She shared it with her mother, who pronounced “major disappointment.” The details aren’t important; it was simple semantics. They felt otherwise, but just sat on their feelings for awhile ( a year). I can see, now, why they felt hurt. And shame on them for not just telling me! I did learn an important lesson about the power of words, which are truly double-edged swords. But more importantly, I learned to never, ever share a blog post with someone who is even remotely connected to my mother-in-law, unless I plan never ever to ever, ever, share information that might possibly rub that good woman the wrong way.
I am no such a person, and I sure am glad Christmas is behind us this year. Dealing with the fallout from that, when we finally did get around to talking about it, was horrible.
So hello, my fellow anonymous writers. May we never meet.
