A House for my Birthday in New Beginnings

As I mentioned in my last entry, I made an offer on that house. The owners countered with an offer half way between my offer and their asking price, and I accepted, so I’m under contract now. I’m buying a house! I’ve set up a home inspection for this Friday, so I have one day to opt out before the due diligence ends.
I’m still in the due diligence phase. Most of last week was spent signing contract after contract after contract. I’m grateful we can sign contracts electronically these days. The thought of having to do so the old fashioned way strikes me as maddeningly tedious. I told my housemate/landlord last night, and he was cool about it. My close date is April 28th, but I probably won’t move in until May 31st. Rather, I’m going to spend the month of May moving in pieces at a time. I have to drive an hour away to get my possessions out of my storage unit, and I have to move my stuff out of here. I also don’t have enough furniture to appropriately furnish anything beyond a one bedroom apartment, so I’ll need to get a couple of bedroom sets. I’ve decided to buy much of my other furnishings used.
It’s a four bedroom house. I’m going to use the master bedroom myself. The smallest one in the finished basement will become my home office. Another of the bedrooms will be a guest bedroom for my dad to visit, and I think I may rent the remaining room out. I could easily charge enough in rent to cover my mortgage.
I haven’t told my dad yet. He will call me later tonight, and I will give him the news along with my laundry list of reasons why getting my own place is a good idea. I hope he doesn’t pick a fight.
I hope I’m making the best choice. I’ve wanted to move back to Athens for so long. I still want to, but I don’t want to keep renting if I’m going to be in Atlanta for another 5 years or more. I feel like buying a house is a guaranteed way to ensure that I get an opportunity to move back. Kind of like right after I accepted my current job, a position in Athens that would have been ideal for me became available. The housing market is recovering, and the location and interior of this house would be a quick sale should I need to move again.
I also stumbled across some lists of creepy things. I’m paranoid that I’ll end up moving into a haunted house. Would it be inappropriate to have a priest do an inspection, too?

Congrats!
I'm jealous of your short time until closing and the ability to sign things electronically! NY is a bit behind the times. Takes over 2 months to close up here and everything is done with pen and paper.
