Yeah so, if you look up this sort of insidious adware/malware/sodomyware called viewpassword you get googled sodomy-wise to various sites with removal tools that have even more withoutlubeware. I didn’t find this on any site, but, what you need to do (after all the obvious things that the few bulletin board sites will tell you; e.g. go to control panel and remove it and everything else that looks suspicious or takes C or D batteries) is a tad more complicated.
If you have a program like malwarebytes it’ll find the little pieces, sort of like a nurse finds the entrance of a gun shot wound, and like a nurse, it’ll stop the immediate bleeding but not the shooter from firing again and again. A good nurse can tend to numerous GSW’s; but that’s not the point. So after you do the normal stuff that’s all like No Duh (yet try to get a tech support guy to figure it out, they tend to either treat you like a deaf semi retarded child or, in keeping with the gsw analogy ask you which organs are affected. I rarely need tech support myself, but when I do it’s going to be a complicated problem. I don’t get tech support on computers I build myself.) you have to go to a different level of no duh.
The last several versions of windows have had the control panel thing for removing programs, in the bad old days you had to go to the file and remove each piece of the program. So you go and find the viewpassword file (hey! How come uninstall programs in the control panel didn’t uninstall? It said it did, it’s not there anymore. It’s windows for fucks sake, what did you expect?) and you start tossing shit all willy nilly into the recycle bin. Then --- BAM! File in use try again. Like an elevator button you keep pressing try again a few times say either “Fuck it” out loud or ‘fuckitfuckitfuckit’ quietly to yourself, and three finger salute up the task manager.
Sure enough it’s there in the task manager. You stop the process. That lets you delete a few more but you get down to those last two, and, so sorry so sad, back to file in use try again. You think really hard about smoking a cigarette, instead puff furiously at an e-cig with, possibly, peanut butter cup e-liquid, and you go to services on the task manager. There the little fucker is. You highlight it and hit stop service. Your speakers make a Bonking sound and a stop sign shows up that says you can’t do that. You say ‘I am the fucking administrator’ the stop sign doesn’t fucking care. In the lower right hand corner is that little shield and the word Services followed by three ellipses. That takes you to a lovely screen where you are god. There you can raise the dead, cause blindness, heal leopards, but, most importantly, you can stop viewpassword services, and, go back and delete the last of it, empty your trash bin, and stomp your little feet (though with those bunny slippers they won’t make much noise).
You’d think viewpassword would, I don’t know, view passwords. Yeah, no. It puts ad’s everywhere, everywhere, pops up ads, goes ad batshit. Um, some folks might actually use it, I mean if you are on Best Buys website (which explains why people talk to you like a deaf semi-retarded child) it pops ups best buy deals and coupons for other sites with the product you are looking at. Um, it gets in the way of you looking at the product, but the deals look legit.
Pissed me off to get that sort of sneaky ass adware/malware/sodomyware on my brand new pristine drive. Hell my copy of windows is even legal and shit.
And I’m spent.
