It occurs to me that amidst this chaos, I never did my RAD of the date that I had while I was injured and in the unbelievably dangerous stroke zone and didn’t even know it!!! Remember, this was after nearly a week of unexplained headaches and severe malaise. This was the evening following a whole day of doctor appointments, brain scans and me drinking because I was so scared about what was going on with me! Here goes.

Name: CD (this is short for Cute Dad because he has a hobby blog about being a dad that covers lots of topics…including being a single dad and dating!)

Introduction Platform: Hinge. This was my first hinge date!

Age: 51

Job: Some kind of marketing for a digital company that’s very niche

Lives: North of the city in one of those new live, work, play developments. I was not familiar with this place until we met.

Length of Date: Approx 2 hours

We Did: Met at “my” city park for a dog walk and a glass of wine.

He Looked: Super cute. Warm smile, extremely personable. Cool dad outfit, I guess. Jeans, tee…I really don’t remember much. I can tell you he’s my type, though.

I Looked: Wore what I’d worn to the doctor’s office and what I’d worn to the CT imaging place - distressed jeans, a cute off-the-shoulder top and sandals.

Convo: Here’s where it gets weird because I didn’t really know that my brain was struggling to get oxygen as well as forming an aneurysm in my jugular! Looking back, I was struggling to find words and talking was actually exhausting me. I can’t tell you what we talked about - except I do remember that his mom is British and his company is based in Paris and he was going to be traveling until after Easter. He talked a little bit about his kids and honestly that ‘s all I remember. I think I was trying to just hold it together! Wow. I can’t believe I even met him out that night, but we’d already canceled one time before and I didn’t want the moment to pass.

High Point: He walked me and Martini home. He was warm and polite, despite my probably obvious weirdness.

Low Point: I don’t know, you guys. I was probably the low point! Feeling weird health-wise was the low point.

How It Ended: He walked us to my place, we talked a little bit and both established that we’d like to see each other again. Hug at my door and goodbye!

Chances Are: We’ve been texting while he’s been in Paris and headed to London to see his mum. I asked him to send me photos along the way. He was in Paris the day after the Notre Dame fire and sent me photos of the partial building, he sent photos of his favorite cafe, photos of his walks before he went to the office. I was grateful. And then today he sent me a text asking me if we could see each other when he’s back next week. I said YES.

Date Rating: All things considered, I’d say it was a B. Only because I wasn’t 100% present. I’m looking forward to seeing him again!
