The bridge is beautiful and enduring, something for the people of France to appreciate.

I thought the Russian connections = named after Czar Alexander and corner stone set by his son Nicholas II was fascinating.

I think that if I were just a little braver, I should like to be one of those people who retreats to a monestary for a month or two of quiet meditation and working for my board.
The piece about merton is just so lovely. "Words are spoken or sung, but they are borrowed from silence and to silence they return" "Not to run from one thought to the next, but to give each one time to settle in the heart."
Actually, that's kind of a theme isn't it? In the sisters and the man, and the place?

there is an attraction to the monastic life. The Trappists have a monastery near Dubuque IA, with a beautiful name New Melleray. They make and sell caskets and you can go there for a retreat or even stay. https://newmelleray.org/
