What makes one workaholic? The reasons may vary. Some just love the work itself. It’s what makes them feel alive.

To some others, they love the money more. They may not always like the job and other types of work they do, though. What keeps them on the job is the thought (and perhaps the possibility) of earning more.

Some others become workaholics to escape their current agony. Whether it’s a heartbreak, the death of someone they love, or even the loss of money. (No, I’m not kidding on the last part.)

It’s a good feeling when you realise that you can still do something, despite all of that. You can’t allow yourself to get weak, to just fall apart. There’s too much at stake here.

You can’t get a break now, no matter how badly you want it.

So you keep on pushing and pretending all is always good, until one day…you just SNAP! No, that doesn’t always mean you’re angry, but you still lose something anyway. One of your freelance jobs starts suffering from it.

Then you lose it.

Surprisingly, you don’t complain too much about it. In fact, all you feel right now is cold. It’s that dawning realisation that you’ve been dreading for so very long:

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how good you think you are. When you’re tired, then you’re tired. When it’s over, it’s done. If you’re exhausted, something always falls apart. The least you can do now is to make sure that not everything falls apart.

Once someone dies, there’s no turning back. No amount of money can ever fill the empty space they leave behind. They’re gone. Accept that and move on.

Heartbreak sucks. It makes you realise that eventually, you’ll always be on your own again. People make and break promises. That’s just the way it is. Deal with it.

They can say anything they like and not be aware of the consequences. They don’t care that they give you false hopes before eventually crushing them to pieces.

Sometimes money does matter more. You just have to learn to take care of yourself better. If you don’t, you can / will get trampled on all-too-damn easily, all over again.

Forget about anyone who dares promise you the whole world. Those cheesy lines should never have worked out in the first place. They surely as hell should not now – and ever again.
Don’t bother seek revenge against those who have harmed you. Sometimes it’s not worth it. They’ve never really given a damn about you, so what do you care? Why should you? They’ve already moved on, creating something new. Some people have told you to do that too.

Well, here’s one thing for sure. Rage is a very powerful tool. You still have to nurse it for now in order to stay strong.

No, you’re not going to go and try to destroy them. What for? They’re not worth it, not even when they think too highly of themselves. You have much better things to do than that.

First, try to never meet people like them again. Second, try not to be like them, especially once you’re back on your feet again. Third, make sure you do – and then get rid of people like them. Never let them occupy your mind…for good. They don’t deserve to be in your life.

Soon, you will no longer need any of them – and the money you have already earned but they somehow still refuse to give. Maybe they don’t have it and have cheated their way out of their responsibility. Who cares? You’re better off without them!
