I saw you like a light in addressing the public

Coincidence, or maybe not
I saw you like a light
Like a moth to a flame
Like I’d been starved of sight

From les Sables d’Olonne
I remember the wind
We froze time in the car
Flutter-heart and a grin

Forever in meaning
You carved out your words
Your ink’s in my skin
A poem that endures

Through tram stops and airports
The doors and the trains
The bonjours and goodbyes
And me saying your name

But I live for those moments
When I see you first
When you’re searching the crowd
Then your smile just bursts
