Skirting in 6th Form Poetry

Skirting around a subject
That can't be broached
Edging around a periphery
That must never be encroached

These tentative steps
Our very own avoid dance
The elephant in the room
The boil that will never be lanced

What is it that we are afraid of
That we spend whole days denying?
No matter what we could offer each other
We seem hell-bent on not buying

Will we ever get bored of this skirting around
Face up to fears and address the issues?
Loosen the reins of control
You never know, even happiness could happen
If we do.
